Auto Scene Mode

In the Auto Scene Mode, advanced detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimize your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time. It includes Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection AF/AE to detect faces in the frame and Intelligent Scene Selector to detect scene conditions. In addition, the DMC-F3 includes Digital Image Stabilizer to detect hand-shake and Digital Red-eye Correction (Red-eye Removal)*1 to take care of the red-eye effect that often happens when shooting with a flash.

Intelligent Scene Selector

The Intelligent Scene Selector automatically sets the Scene Mode to either of Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait*2 or Night Scenery. The camera judges it from the various detection results such as focusing and brightness level of the circumstance*3. You are free from annoying settings every time scene changes when taking images with these most frequently used Scene Modes to get beautiful results even before you know it.

*1 Digital Red-eye Correction must be turned ON in the menu prior to use.
*2 In Auto Scene Mode, Night Portrait is not identified when the flash is turned off.
*3 With some subject and shooting conditions, it is just not possible to judge the best shooting details. When this happens, it is recommended that you shoot with the Scene Mode that best suits your purpose.

HD Movie Recording (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG Format) (F3)

The DMC-F3 can record motion images in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG format). The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-image recording even in low-light settings. The DMC-F3 can also record full-size motion images in WVGA (848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) or standard motion images in VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps).

* The movie is optimized for web view by file conversion.

WVGA Motion Picture Recording (F2)

The DMC-F2 can record full-size motion images in WVGA (848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) or standard motion images in VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps).

• QuickTime Motion JPEG. • Some lens movement sounds may be recorded. • In Motion Picture Mode, the length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card. (Up to the equivalent of 2 GB per motion-image recording.) • For Europe, motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 15 minutes. • Use a card with SD Speed Class* with “Class 6” or higher when recording motion images. * SD speed class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing. • SDXC Memory Card is compatible with the DMC-F3. • SDHC Memory Cards and SDXC Memory Cards can be used only in equipment that is compatible with their respective formats. • If the computer being used does not support SDXC Memory Cards, a message prompting you to format may appear. (Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.) If the card is not recognized, please refer to the below support site.

28mm Wide-angle 4x Optical Zoom Lens and Up to 7.8x Extra Optical Zoom (F3)

The 12.1-megapixel DMC-F3 features a 28mm wide-angle*1 4x optical zoom lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-112mm) with f/2.8 brightness. The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective. The 4x optical zoom lens captures beautiful shots of people or landscapes with 12.1-megapixel full resolution. Use the Extra Optical Zoom*2 when you want to pull the subject in just a little closer. It extends the 4x optical zoom ratio to 7.8x (35mm equivalent: 218mm) at resolutions of 3 megapixels or less, by using the central part of the CCD.

4x Optical Zoom and Up to 7.1x Extra Optical Zoom (F2)

The 10.1-megapixwl DMC-F2 has a 4x optical zoom lens with f/2.8 brightness (35mm camera equivalent: 33-132mm) and 7.1x Extra Optical Zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 234mm)*2.

*1 Converted to standard 35mm camera equivalent, at the maximum wide position.
*2 At a resolution of 3-megapixel or less. In the DMC-F3/F2, image resolution is kept at its maximum size to the optical tele-end even if the Extra Optical Zoom is ON.

Extended Battery Life

Despite its slim body, the extended battery life of the DMC-F2 lets you take approx. 300 shots on a single charge*.

* The DMC-F3 lets you take approx. 220 shots on a single charge.

• Based on the CIPA standard.

• The DMC-F3/F2 comes with a function to check whether the battery and unit can be safely used together. • Batteries made by other companies which have been certified by Panasonic may be used with these units, but we offer no guarantee as to the quality, performance or safety of such batteries. • Exercise care when purchasing batteries.
