The DMC-TS5(FT5) features a high-quality LEICA DC lens with 4.6x optical zoom from 28mm wide-angle (35mm camera equivalent: 28-128mm). The folded optics of shaft guide method is adopted to secure the toughness of the lens unit. Passing the Leica's stringent standards, this lens delivers exceptional optical performance to the edges.

The 28mm wide-angle lens* lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective, even from short distances.
* Converted to standard 35mm camera equivalent, at the wide-end.
The Intelligent Zoom is an extensive zoom function using digital zoom with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology. The 4.6x optical can virtually extend to 9.3x equivalent.
The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) suppresses the low-frequency vibration hand-shake component, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed.

The new 16.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor realizes both high quality image recording and high speed signal processing. In addition, the Wavelet NR (Noise Reduction) system*1 in the Venus Engine enables deliberate noise reduction process without missing low-frequency noise by enlarging its detection area by approx.64x*2. It results in the high sensitivity image recording even at ISO3200.

The DMC-TS5(FT5)'s Venus Engine processes large amount of progressive full HD data at high speed. At the same time, the multi-task image-processing engine, the Venus Engine realizes a super-fast response time.
The newly developed MOS sensor lets the DMC-TS5(FT5) shoot 10 fps* in 16.1-megapixel full resolution with mechanical shutter and 5 fps with continuous AF. You can take a series of shots, then choose the ones you like the best and delete the rest.

Even higher-speed burst shooting is possible when the electronic shutter is used.
The Intelligent Burst Shooting in the iA Mode automatically sets the frame rate of burst shooting according to the subject's movement.

*2 The focus, exposure and white balance are fixed with the first picture for the burst.
