The DMC-ZR1(ZX1) can record motion pictures in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps)*¹. The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-picture recording even in low-light settings. It also lets you use zooming when taking motion pictures.
The DMC-ZR1(ZX1) also lets you output HD movies and HD still pictures directly (1080i output) *². Enjoy viewing HD movies and HD still pictures with a 16:9 aspect ratio on your living room's large-screen HDTV.
Also, by inserting an SDHC/SD Memory Card*³ containing still pictures into the VIERA Image Viewer (SDHC/SD Memory Card slot) on a VIERA TV, you can enjoy VIERA's unique slideshows. Operation is super easy, using only the TV's remote controller.Operation using only TV's remote controller is super easy.

In Motion Picture Mode, the length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SDHC/SD Memory Card. (Up to the equivalent of 2 GB per motion-image recording.) When you set the motion picture quality to VGA, WVGA and HD (1,280x720 pixels), we recommend using a high-speed memory card with "10MB/s" or greater on the package. Some lens movement sounds may be recorded.
For Europe, motion pictures can be recorded continuously for up to 15 minutes.

Scene Mode

The Scene Mode function lets the camera make the optimal settings for you automatically, so anybody can take superb photos with ease. The versatile Scene Mode range, which handles just about any situation and subject type, is a major LUMIX feature. And to make it even simpler to use, the icons and display are designed for easy visibility.
The DMC-ZR1(ZX1) lets you store a frequently used Scene Mode setting in the My Scene Mode.

High Dynamic Mode

A new Scene Mode has been added that lets you take artistic photos. The High Dynamic Mode helps to capture a scene with moderate exposure even though the scene contains both bright and dark area together. You can select either of 3 options, Standard, Art, or B/W, depending on the desired effect and personal taste to make the photo look natural to artistic.

Macro Zoom

The DMC-ZR1(ZX1) lets you get as close as 3cm to your subject. In addition, when using Macro Zoom function, you can pull subjects even closer than the closest point possible by using 3x digital zoom, and capture dramatic close-ups.

Select from 3 Aspect Ratios

The aspect ratio for the DMC-ZR1(ZX1) can be easily selected from 16:9*¹ wide, 3:2*² and conventional 4:3 to shoot in the framing aspect that best suits the photo's composition or purpose of use. The 16:9 ratio gives images that match the aspect ratio of an HDTV screen. Wide-angle shooting is possible in all three aspect ratios*³.

Slideshow with Music

The DMC-ZR1(ZX1) can play a slideshow with music. Choose from four types of music: Natural, Slow, Swing and Urban. Then, select the transition effect to match your music. You can also use the optional DMW-HDC2 component cable to connect the camera to an HDTV for breathtaking, large-screen viewing*. For musical slideshows created with the included PHOTOfunSTUDIO 4.0, you can choose your favorite iTunes music file as background music.

Seamless Slideshows with Still and Motion Pictures

Now there are more slideshow options. And they can be used with both still and motion pictures, for recollecting memorable moments in seamless, chronological order. You can also select and play only still pictures, only motion pictures. Choose whichever slideshow you like the best.

Category Playback

You can play back photos from a total of 10 settings*, including Face Recognition, which lets you search for and retrieve specific subjects.

Title Edit / Text Stamp

The Title Edit function in playback mode lets you edit the titles of any photos you want. You can also enter your destination and travel date into Travel Mode in advance, or enter the birth date and name of your subject in Baby Mode or Pet Mode. The title, date of travel information, name, age based on the birth date, and date of shooting are displayed during playback, and can be printed on photos.*

* When date, name and title are stamped on a photo, the photo is automatically resized to 3-megapixel format, or the original size is maintained for photos smaller than 3-megapixel format. However, you can choose either to save or overwrite the original picture.

PictBridge Compatible
— Direct Print Function

The PictBridge standard lets you print directly on a compatible digital printer. Print size, layout, date and other settings can be made with the camera. Of course, you can also make multiple prints of an image, or print only the ones that you have selected.

PHOTOfunSTUDIO 4.0

The PHOTOfunSTUDIO 4.0 allows you to view, edit and archive your captured photo and motion pictures with greater ease and fun. It features dramatic speed-up of operation by achieving 10x as fast as the previous edition for start up and 8x for initial image registration process*¹. The GUI is re-designed by adopting simple graphic elements and layouts as well as the incorporation of wizard method, making the operation more intuitive and extremely easy.
In addition, the PHOTOfunSTUDIO 4.0 features a Face Recognition function that recognizes the faces in the pictures stored in your computer to sort them by faces for you regardless of the camera type you used. You can also enjoy emotion-packed slideshows with a variety of effects and music. Motion pictures can also be uploaded directly to YouTube™*².

Quick Menu

Frequently used functions can be quickly retrieved and easily switched by using the Q.MENU button. The function names are displayed in text form, making them easy for anyone to understand and use.

Clipboard

The Clipboard function is incredibly handy for the maps and time schedules that are so important when traveling. By snapping photos of them and adding them to the clipboard, you can retrieve them instantly with the Mode Dial. Because it takes a little time to retrieve images from an SDHC/SD Memory Card, the images are stored in their own special folders in the Built-in Memory.

Built-in Memory 40MB

Take photos even when you don't have an SDHC/SD Memory Card on hand. The built-in memory holds up to approx. 40MB of image data, which you can later copy to an SDHC/SD Memory Card or computer. You can also copy images from a memory card or computer to the built-in memory, and view them on the LCD anytime you like. In addition to providing extra memory when your memory card fills up, this is a great place to store your favorite photos so you can view them anytime you want.
