2.7-inch, 230,000-dot High-resolution Intelligent LCD

The 2.7-inch LCD has a total of 230,000 dots for high resolution. The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) features the Intelligent LCD. The Auto Power LCD function adjusts the backlight brightness in 11 steps according to the ambient light intensity. At the highest of these 11 steps, the LCD backlight becomes approx. 1.4 times brighter than normal. This makes both shooting and viewing photos easier and more convenient.

High-angle Mode

The High-angle Mode makes the display extremely easy to view from a low angle, for example, when taking photos by raising your hand upward to capture the subject over the crowd.

Scene Mode

The Scene Mode function lets the camera make the optimal settings for you automatically, so anybody can take superb photos with ease. The versatile Scene Mode range, which handles just about any situation and subject type, is a major LUMIX feature. And to make it even simpler to use, the icons and display are designed for easy visibility. The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) lets you store a frequently used Scene Mode setting in the My Scene Mode.

DMC-ZS1(TZ6) Scene Modes

High-speed Burst Mode

Advanced

The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) lets you choose Speed Priority or Image Priority. In Speed Priority Mode, it can fire off up to approximately 10 frames per second with 3-megapixel resolution, which is highly sufficient for photo prints. This is great for capturing fast-moving sports or racing scenes. You can take a series of shots, then choose the ones you like the best and delete the rest.
(Note that the focus and exposure are fixed at the first frame.)

* In 3-megapixel (4:3), 2.5-megapixel (3:2), 2-megapixel (16:9) recording. The consecutive shooting speed varies depending on the memory card. The number of recordable picture depends on the memory card size, battery life, picture size, and compression.

Max. 10 frames/second!

Panorama Assist Mode

New

After the first shot
Screen for taking the second shot

This is a handy function for aligning panorama photos using the included Software Panorama Maker. The afterimage of each previous shot is displayed so you can use it to precisely line up the second and third shots.

Macro Zoom

New

The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) lets you get as close as 3 cm to your subject. In addition, when using Macro Zoom function, you can pull subjects even closer than the closest point possible by using 3x digital zoom, and capture dramatic close-ups.

11-area AF

When using 11-area AF, the camera automatically determines the most appropriate AF area from the eleven points. This ensures accurate focusing even for difficult compositions. You can also select the AF setting from five patterns — Face AF, 1-area high-speed AF, 1-area AF, Spot AF and AF Tracking — according to your shooting situation.

Continuous AF / Quick AF

The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) can be preset to either Continuous AF or Quick AF. Continuous AF automatically and continuously focuses on your subject, providing a clear, sharp focus even for moving subjects.
Quick AF starts operating as soon as the camera is pointed toward a subject, in comparison with the ordinary AF function, which is activated when the shutter button is pressed half-way.
Both Continuous AF and Quick AF dramatically reduce the shutter delay time and let you take pictures quickly. They are ideal for taking photos of children and pets, sports action, and animals in nature. And they make sure that spur-of-the-moment shots aren't out of focus or blurry, and minimize the time lag for shooting.

Select from 3 Aspect Ratios

The aspect ratio for the DMC-ZS1(TZ6) can be easily selected from 16:9*1 wide, 3:2*2 and conventional 4:3 to shoot in the framing aspect that best suits the photo's composition or purpose of use. The 16:9 ratio gives you images that match the aspect ratio of an HDTV screen. Wide-angle shooting is possible in all three aspect ratios*3.

*1 3,648 x 2,056 pixels, 3,072 x 1,728 pixels, 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels
*2 3,648 x 2,432 pixels, 3,072 x 2,048 pixels, 2,560 x 1,712 pixels, 2,048 x 1,360 pixels
*3 25mm (4:3), 26mm (3:2), 27mm (16:9).

Zoom in Motion Picture

The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) lets you shoot smooth moving pictures, complete with sound, in WVGA (848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps), VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) or QVGA size (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps)*. The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) also lets you use zooming when taking motion pictures. Its powerful 12x optical zoom is ideal for capturing dynamic video clips of sports action or animals in nature.

* QuickTime Motion JPEG. In Motion Picture Mode, the length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SDHC/SD Memory Card. (Up to the equivalent of 2 GB per motion-image recording.) We recommend using a high-speed memory card with "10MB/s" or greater on the package. Some lens movement sounds may be recorded.
For Europe, motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 15 minutes.

Slideshow with Music

The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) also features slideshows with music. Choose from four types of music: Natural, Slow, Swing and Urban. Transition effects timed to the music further enhance the slide changes. For musical slideshows created with the included PHOTOfunSTUDIO 3.0 application, you can choose your favorite iTunes music file as background music.

Seamless Slideshows with Still and Motion Images

New

Now there are more slideshow options. And they can be used with both still and motion images, for recollecting memorable moments in seamless, chronological order. You can also select and play only still images, or only motion images. Choose whichever slideshow you like the best.

Category Playback

Photos played back from a total of 10 settings can be searched and retrieved as a group for playback or for viewing in a slideshow.

Leveling

New

You can fix images that you accidentally shot at a slight angle. And you can do it right inside the camera*. Simply display the recorded image in playback mode, then follow the easy-to-understand display instructions to level it. Rotational correction up to 2° is possible in either clockwise or counter clockwise direction. Even difficult corrections of straight horizons and architectural buildings can be made with excellent results.

* The picture quality will deteriorate.

Title Edit / Text Stamp

The Title Edit function in playback mode lets you edit the titles of any photos you want. Two of the Scene Modes, Baby Mode and Pet Mode, let you enter the date of birth and name of your subject in advance. You can also enter your destination and the date of travel in advance, in the Travel Date setting. The title, name, age based on the birth date, date of travel information, and date of shooting are displayed during playback, and can be printed on photos.*

* When date, name and title are stamped on a photo, the photo is automatically resized to 3-megapixel format, or the original size is maintained for photos smaller than 3-megapixel format. However, you can choose either to save or overwrite the original picture.

USB2.0 High-speed

The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) supports the USB2.0 high-speed standard. In comparison with conventional full-speed data transfer at 12 Mbps, USB2.0 high-speed transfers data at max. 480 Mbps. This is a highly practical speed for sending high-volume image data from the camera to a PC for viewing or storage.

Included Software

PHOTOfunSTUDIO 3.0

PHOTOfunSTUDIO 3.0 lets you edit or organize a collection of photos with more ease and fun. It features a Face Recognition function that recognizes the faces in the pictures stored in your PC to sort them by faces for you regardless of the camera type you used. Through the sophisticated interface, you can also enjoy emotion-packed slideshows with a variety of effects and music. Motion images can also be uploaded directly to YouTube™.

ArcSoft (MediaImpression / Panorama Maker)

ArcSoft software (MediaImpression/Panorama Maker) gives you a lot of fun editing functions.

PictBridge Compatible - Direct Print Function

The PictBridge standard lets you print directly on a compatible digital printer. Print size, layout, date and other settings can be made with the camera. Of course, you can also make multiple prints of an image, or print only the ones that you have selected.

Quick Menu

Frequently used functions can be quickly retrieved and easily switched by using the Q.MENU button. The function names are displayed in text form, making them easy for anyone to understand and use.

* During playback, this button becomes the Delete button.

Selectable Display Size

New

The display size can be set to Standard or Large.

Clipboard

The Clipboard function is incredibly handy for the maps and time schedules that are so important when traveling. By snapping photos of them and adding them to the clipboard, you can retrieve them instantly with the Mode Dial. Because it takes a little time to retrieve images from an SDHC/SD Memory Card, the images are stored in their own special folders in the Built-in Memory. You can find them immediately. This lets the Clipboard work like a quick and easy memo function.

Built-in Memory 40MB

Take photos even when you don‘t have an SDHC/SD Memory Card on hand. The built-in memory holds up to approx. 40 MB of image data, which you can later copy to an SDHC/SD Memory Card or PC. You can also copy images from a memory card or PC to the built-in memory, and view them on the LCD anytime you like. In addition to providing extra memory when your memory card fills up, this is a great place to store your favorite photos so you can view them anytime you want.

Number of Recordable and Storable Photos

Demo Mode

The Demo Mode provides an easy-to-understand slideshow of the DMC-ZS1(TZ6) functions, such as the effects of the 25mm wide-angle lens, 12x optical zoom and iA Mode.

Marine Case Compatible

The DMC-ZS1(TZ6) is compatible with the optional marine case DMW-MCTZ7. This case will protect your LUMIX camera all the way to a depth of 40 meters. It lets you take clear, beautiful photos underwater.
