Atiba Jefferson is an extremely successful skateboard photographer who, in addition to being a founding member of The Skateboard Mag, is also an in demand commercial photographer who has done work for Nike, adidas, Pepsi, Mountain Dew and the like. He’s shot Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Tony Hawk, Kevin Garnett and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and had covers of Transworld Skateboarding, The Skateboard Mag, SLAM Magazine, and ESPN the Magazine.
In 1995 Atiba Jefferson moved to San Diego, California, from Colorado Springs after taking photography classes in high school. In San Diego Atiba convinced Grant Brittain, the Photo Editor of Transworld Skateboarding, to let him assist in the office.
In the past 15 years he has shot tricks with all of the top pros, in every sport, and had numerous cover photos, and even branched out to shoot basketball, music and different ad campaigns. In 2003 Atiba left the Transworld Skateboarding staff and The SkateboardMag, which today is an industry standard.
Atiba currently lives in LA. He divides his time between skate photography and commercial shoots, as well as playing in the band, The Goat. Atiba credits all of his success to the fact that he is, at core, a skateboarder.
