The Photo / Movie Hybrid Super Zoom
Compact Digital Camera DMC-ZS7 (TZ10)
25mm Ultra Wide-Angle Powerful 12x Optical Zoom LEICA DC Lens*
Featuring Intelligent Resolution Technology and Built-in GPS
*35mm film camera equivalent: 25-300mm
Panasonic today introduced the LUMIX DMC-ZS7 (TZ10) as the newest member of its acclaimed ZS (TZ) series that has won worldwide popularity. With the AVCHD Lite HD movie recording capability, 25mm ultra wide-angle and powerful 12x optical zoom lens is packed into the compact body to cover virtually any shooting situations. This 12.1-megapixel powerhouse performer ZS7 (TZ10) further advanced to comprehend attractive features including the Intelligent Resolution technology as well as the built-in GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and manual exposure. An abundant of functions for both photo and movie recording are organized in the well-considered operational command including an independent movie recording button achieving smooth, easy operation in both recording modes.
The new image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution" is incorporated in the Venus Engine HD II for ZS7 (TZ10). By detecting the signals whether they are at edges of the subject, they compose detailed texture or just a soft gradation first and give appropriate enhancement to the edges and textured areas respectively. Unlike the uniform enhancement of sharpness, it is possible to perform the optimum signal processing to give a whole image outstandingly natural clearness with fine details.
Panasonic's iA (Intelligent Auto) mode — a hallmark of LUMIX cameras — includes POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) which features double the repression power compared to the conventional image stabilization system, MEGA O.I.S. The hand-shake, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed, is effectively compensated by the new POWER O.I.S. to enjoy blur-free photography. The iA mode is also available in movie recording mode. It automatically selects the most suitable Scene mode and helps to correct handshake, focus and brightness problems — making the iA mode your one-stop solution to capture beautiful still and motion images.
On the other hand, manual control of shutter speed and aperture is available with A/S/M mode for advanced users to choose to enjoy the creativeness of photography.
Now the GPS is finally built-in the world-renowned travel companion ZS7 (TZ10) not only just to record the latitude and longitude but also to display the location information real-time while shooting or playing back the images with the information to increase the fun of travel photography.
The ZS7 (TZ10) features a 3-inch, high resolution 460,000-dot Intelligent LCD with a wide-viewing angle and AR (Anti-Reflection) coating, boasting excellent visibility during recording and playing back the photos and movies.
Despite of the pocket-sized compact body, the truly "hybrid", versatile digital camera DMC-ZS7 (TZ10) will surely satisfy every user at any level of photography with its ultimate performance and offer a rich experience like never before.

1. 25mm Ultra Wide-Angle LEICA DC Lens with 12x Optical Zoom for Ultimate Versatility in Both Photo and Movie Recording
The ZS7 (TZ10) features a high-quality LEICA DC VARIO ELMAR 25mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 12x optical zoom. A lens like this, with a range from 25mm to 300mm*, is almost inconceivable in such a small, lightweight camera. Comprising 10 elements in 8 groups, including 2 ED lenses and 2 aspherical lenses with 3 aspherical surfaces, and utilizing new lens material in its design, this advanced lens unit realizes the outstandingly slim and compact body while passing Leica's stringent standards to deliver exceptional optical performance. Thanks to the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the ZS7 (TZ10) which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. This means the 12x optical can virtually extend to 16x equivalent. Furthermore, the Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 23.4x (at 3-megapixel resolution) by using the center part of the large CCD to bring subjects even closer.
The ZS7 (TZ10) has a 14.5-megapixel CCD and shoots with up to 12.1-megapixel resolution. This is because the CCD on the ZS7 (TZ10) is multi-aspect that can reproduce images shot with the lens set from 25mm to 300mm in any of three aspect ratios — 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 — so you can always capture dynamic, richly expressive shots with a wide perspective. The Multi Aspect mode lets you take an image in all three aspect ratios simultaneously then choose the one that best suits your scene after shooting.
*Equivalent to 35mm camera
2. Intelligent Resolution Technology Compiled in the New Venus Engine HD II Assures High Picture Quality for Both Photo and Movie
The high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine HD has been re-engineered to compile the new image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution". It enables the recording of beautiful photo and high-definition movie with higher quality signal processing.
With the Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas — outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas are automatically detected. The outline parts are enhanced effectively to give edges more clearness while giving a moderate accentuation to the texture areas to look more finely detailed. To the soft gradation part, superior noise reduction system of the Venus Engine HD II is applied to make it smoother. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative technology Intelligent Resolution precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way for it. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp in both photo and movie recording.
The Intelligent Resolution technology also realizes the Intelligent Zoom, which virtually extends the optical zoom ratio to its approx. 1.3x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining the digital zoom. Details of an image in high sensitivity recording tends to be lost in the noise reduction process; however, the Intelligent Resolution works to keep them.
At the same time, the multi-task image-processing engine Venus Engine HD II supports a super-fast response time. The shutter release time lag is as short as approx. 0.006 second and the camera's quick response makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities together with the Sonic Speed AF (Auto Focus) that lets you lock on the subject minimum in approx. 0.35 (wide-end) / 0.41 (tele-end) second* and the short startup time of approx. 1.28 second. The high performance Venus Engine HD II is also energy efficient to feature an extended battery life up to 300 shots (CIPA) per a single charge.
*Using 1-area AF.
3. Take Motion Picture Recording to the Next-Level with New Generation AVCHD Lite and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode
In addition to Motion JPEG images, the DMC-ZS7 (TZ10) can record high-definition motion picture in AVCHD Lite. It features almost doubling the recording time in HD quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format. The picture quality is greatly enhanced thanks to the newly added Intelligent Resolution technology. The ZS7 (TZ10) also features Dolby Digital Stereo Creator to record high quality audio, so you can match the beautiful motion images with outstanding stereo sound.
Now on the ZS7 (TZ10), the popular iA (Intelligent Auto) is also available in motion image recording. Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) helps prevent handshake when using high-powered zoom. Face Detection automatically detects a face in the frame and adjusts focus, exposure, contrast, and skin complexion on it, so it always turns out beautiful. Intelligent Exposure continually checks the ambient light level and adjusts the exposure setting as conditions change to prevent blown highlights and blocked shadows. And Intelligent Scene Selector automatically switches between Normal, Portrait, Macro, Scenery, and Low Light modes according to the situation to optimize visual quality.
The powerful 12x optical zoom is available in movie recording with the mechanism designed to minimize the noise of auto focusing or zooming. The GPS and corresponding location information can also be embedded in the video clips. With the newly added Video Divide function, users can divide the video into two sections to shorten or delete the unwanted part on the spot in the camera. You can cut out a clear still image from a movie in the camera thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology. A Wind Cut function is also available to block out most of the noise from background wind.
Still or motion images recorded in AVCHD Lite on SD Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA TV. Simply insert the card into the VIERA Image Viewer (SD Memory Card slot) on VIERA TV or DIGA Blu-ray Disc Player to playback your contents. Alternatively, you can use an optional mini HDMI cable to output the still and motion images you took from the ZS7 (TZ10) directly to the TV for VIERA Link. You can take maximum advantage of LUMIX camera's playback functions including the slideshow in which both still and motion images are integrated in the timeline, category playback according to the scene mode you used or calendar display and so on. All control is possible using only the TV's remote control.
In addition, with the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.1 HD Edition, it is easy to view and edit your recorded contents. You may also choose to upload your videos to YouTube or burn them to a DVD disc for archiving.
*Motion pictures can be recorded continuously for up to 29 min 59 sec in some countries.

*AVCHD Lite motion images recorded onto an SD Memory Card or a DVD disc cannot be played from a device that does not support the AVCHD standard.
·Use a card with SD Speed Class with "Class 4" or higher when recording motion pictures in [AVCHD Lite]. Also, use a card with SD Speed Class with "Class 6" or higher when recording motion pictures in [MOTION JPEG].
*SD Speed Class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing.
4. The iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode Further Evolved with POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) and Intelligent Resolution Technology
Panasonic incorporated the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. In the iA mode the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots and capture moments. Just press, aim and shoot. This mode is now further advanced with the inclusion of further advanced image stabilization system, POWER O.I.S. and Intelligent Resolution technology for DMC-ZS7 (TZ10).
Taking advantage of Panasonic's accumulated optical technologies, MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) has been incorporated into LUMIX cameras from the early stage of digital camera development. MEGA O.I.S. has evolved into the POWER O.I.S. on the DMC-ZS7 (TZ10), with a great performance improvement — twice the shake suppression capability of the predecessor ZS3 (TZ7).
The hand-shake component, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed, is recognized as a low-frequency vibration, for which the new POWER O.I.S. is particularly effective. This greatly improves the quality of shots taken at night or indoors where a flash cannot be used, or where the photographer doesn't want to use a flash because it would spoil the mood. It captures beautiful photos in situations that previously resulted in blurring.
The DMC-ZS7 (TZ10) features the Face Recognition, a function that is popular in the previous ZS3 (TZ7), with several upgrades. Three face images can be registered for each person, to raise the detection accuracy. And when the angle of view is changed horizontally, the name display also rotates for easier reading. The Intelligent Scene Selector, which automatically selects whichever of 6 Scene modes — Macro, Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait, Night Scenery and newly added Sunset — that best suits the shooting situation.
In addition, the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology is always activated in the iA mode which results in the clearer and higher picture quality in every photo and movie with extended zoom range with the Intelligent Zoom equivalent to 16x optical zoom.
Once you enter the iA mode, these functions happen automatically together with other powerful shooting-assist functions — AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control and Intelligent Exposure — so you can shoot without the bother of adjusting settings every time conditions change. You can enjoy easy, trouble-free shooting in any situation and get the satisfaction that comes with capturing clear, beautiful images.
The new Happy mode, a color mode option in the iA mode, optimizes color, saturation and brightness to make both photo and movie more vivid and true to the color of the scene you memorized.
5. Built-in GPS Function Expands Fun of Both Photography and Travel
The ZS (TZ) series camera is acclaimed as an excellent travel companion because of a wide shooting range and hybrid recording capability of high quality photo and movie. The new ZS7 (TZ10) further enhances its value by adding a built-in GPS unit into the camera.
The location data where the photo was taken is embedded with its latitude and longitude is automatically in the EXIF data. These geo-tagged images can be pinpointed on the maps of social media internet maps to be shared with your friends and families. Plus, the ZS7 (TZ10) also shows the name of the county, state, city, and landmarks using the internal data to give users real-time information of the place when taking photos to add fun of photo shooting during travel. The area information covers 173 countries or regions for global use. Plus, more than 500,000 of landmark information covers 73 countries or regions. The photos and movies with the location names are automatically sorted in the virtual folder alphabetically in the camera allowing quick reach. You can also refer to the location names via the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO HD Edition Ver.5.1. It is also easy to sort or search images by the location names. Internal clock of the camera is automatically adjusted to the local time of the place where the camera is, so you do not have to set the clock manually whether you go abroad or come back home.

Super Compact Versatile Camera DMC-ZR3 (ZX3)
with 25mm Ultra Wide-Angle to Powerful 8x Optical Zoom*
Featuring AVCHD Lite Movie Recording and
Intelligent Resolution Technology
*35mm film camera equivalent: 25-200mm
Panasonic is pleased to introduce the LUMIX DMC-ZR3 (ZX3) digital camera from ZR (ZX) series featuring powerful zoom with a remarkably slim and compact body. Newly added is an AVCHD Lite movie recording function to make the versatile camera even truly "hybrid".
The new image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution" is incorporated in the Venus Engine HD II for ZR3 (ZX3). By detecting the signals whether they are at edges of the subject, they compose detailed texture or just a soft gradation first and give appropriate enhancement to the edges and textured areas respectively. Unlike the uniform enhancement of sharpness, it is possible to perform the optimum signal processing to give a whole image outstandingly natural clearness with fine detail.
This technology is integrated in iA (Intelligent Auto) mode — a hallmark of LUMIX cameras — working thoroughly while the camera is in the iA mode to enhance its potential in many aspects. The iA mode is also available in movie mode. It automatically selects the most suitable Scene mode and helps to correct handshake, focus and brightness problems — making the iA mode your one-stop solution to capture beautiful photos and movies.
The powerful 8x optical zoom* lens makes it easy to pull in subjects from far away a step closer compared to the conventional stylish point-and-shoot cameras. For an added boost, zoom power can be increased to 10x with the Intelligent Zoom function taking advantage of the Intelligent Resolution technology maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. The 25mm ultra wide-angle feature is ideal for both broad landscapes and tight indoor shots, letting photographers capture a wider view. The 14.1-megapixel high resolution CCD reproduce the detailed images corner to corner and affordable with trimming or even more powerful Extra Optical Zoom by using the center part of it.
Notably the Sonic Speed AF in the ZR3 (ZX3) features its speed at the industry's fastest level. Combined with a high-speed start-up, this gives the ZR3 (ZX3) an ultra fast response that helps to catch even the most fleeting photo opportunities. The 2.7-inch large Intelligent LCD offers dynamic and clear view out of its small body. The battery life is also as powerful as approx. 330 pictures shooting thanks to the highly energy efficient image processing LSI, the Venus Engine HD II.
With high-quality aluminum texture which resists fingerprints and soiling, the slim, compact, pocket-fitting size of ZR3 (ZX3) is packed with a host of functions for both photos and movies to be an ideal partner for traveling or for everyday snapshots.
*Equivalent to 35mm camera: 25-200mm.
*The "AVCHD" is a high definition (HD) digital video recording / playback format jointly established by Panasonic Corporation and Sony Corporation. The "AVCHD Lite" is a subset of the "AVCHD format" for HD digital video cameras with HD video recording restricted to 720P. The new "AVCHD Lite" logo and the "AVCHD Lite" license are restricted to devices within the AVCHD Video Camera category. Digital cameras have been added to the AVCHD Video Camera category.
*The "AVCHD Lite" and the "AVCHD Lite" logo are trademarks of Panasonic Corporation and Sony Corporation.
*AVCHD Lite motion images recorded onto an SD Memory Card or a DVD disc cannot be played from a device that does not support the AVCHD standard.
1. 25mm Ultra Wide-Angle LEICA DC Lens with 8x Optical / 10x Intelligent Zoom for Superior Versatility in Both Photo and Movie Recording
The DMC-ZR3 (ZX3) features a 25mm ultra wide-angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens and powerful 8x optical zoom (equivalent to 25-200mm on a 35mm camera) together with a 14.1-megapixel high resolution CCD into a compact body. The lens unit comprises of 9 elements in 7 groups, including 4 aspherical lenses with 6 spherical surfaces. Notably, Panasonic achieved the incorporation of 0.3mm super thin aspherical lens and 0.3mm spherical lens, both mold and mass production are difficult, into the lens unit. This makes it possible to fit the 25-200mm high performance lens in an astonishingly slim and compact body.
Thanks to the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the ZR3 (ZX3) which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even using a digital zoom. This means the 8x optical can virtually extend to 10x equivalent. Furthermore, the Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 16.9x (at 3-megapixel resolution) by using the center part of the high resolution CCD to bring subjects even closer.
To the soft gradation part, superior noise reduction process of the Venus Engine HD II is applied to make it smoother. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative technology, Intelligent Resolution, precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way for it. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp in both photo and movie recording.
The Intelligent Resolution technology also realizes Intelligent Zoom, which virtually extends the optical zoom ratio to its approx. 1.3x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining the digital zoom. Details of an image in high sensitivity recording tend to be lost in the noise reduction process; however, the Intelligent Resolution works to keep them.
At the same time, the multi-task image-processing engine Venus Engine HD II supports a super-fast response time. The shutter release time lag is as short as approx. 0.005 second and the camera's quick response makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities together with the Sonic Speed AF (Auto Focus) that lets you lock on the subject minimum in approx. 0.26 (wide-end) / 0.31 (tele-end) second* and the short startup time of approx. 1.10 second. The high performance Venus Engine HD II is also more energy efficient compared with the conventional Venus Engine HD, extending the battery life up to 330 shots (CIPA) per a single charge.
*Using 1-area AF.
3. Take Motion Picture Recording to the Next-Level with New Generation AVCHD Lite and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode
In addition to Motion JPEG images, the DMC-ZR3 (ZX3) can record high-definition motion picture in AVCHD Lite. It features almost doubling the recording time in HD quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format. The picture quality is greatly enhanced thanks to the newly added Intelligent Resolution technology. The ZR3 (ZX3) also features Dolby Digital Creator to record high quality audio, so you can match the beautiful motion images with outstanding sound.
Now on the ZR3 (ZX3), the popular iA (Intelligent Auto) is also available in motion image recording.
The powerful 8x optical zoom is also available in movie recording. With the newly added Video Divide function, users can divide the video into two sections to shorten or to delete the unwanted half on the spot in the camera.
Alternatively, you can use an optional mini HDMI cable to output the still and motion images you took from the ZR3 (ZX3) directly to the TV for VIERA Link. You can take maximum advantage of LUMIX camera's playback functions including the slideshow in which both still and motion images are integrated in the timeline, category playback according to the scene mode you used or calendar display and so on. All control is possible using only the TV's remote control.
In addition, with the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0 HD Edition, it is easy to view and edit your recorded contents. You may also choose to upload your videos to YouTube or burn them to a DVD disc for archiving.
*Motion pictures can be recorded continuously for up to 29 min 59 sec in some countries.
*Continuous recording exceeding 2GB is not possible when recording motion JPEG. Remaining time for continuous recording is displayed on the screen.
4. The iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode Further Evolved with Intelligent Resolution Technology
Panasonic incorporated the Intelligent Auto mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. In iA mode the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots and capture moments. Just press, aim and shoot. This mode is now further advanced with the inclusion of the Intelligent Resolution technology for DMC-ZR3 (ZX3).
The Face Recognition function remembers registered faces to give an appropriate AF/AE on the people.
The Intelligent Scene Selector, which automatically selects whichever of 6 Scene modes — Macro, Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait, Night Scenery and newly added Sunset — that best suits the shooting situation.
The Quick AF system helps keep focus on the subject while the camera is in recording mode even before pressing the shutter button halfway. This improves the result out of a shutter chance because the focus is always near the subject and AF time is minimized.
In addition, newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology is always activated in the iA mode which results in the clearer and higher picture quality in every photo and movie with extended zoom range equivalent to 10x optical zoom by the Intelligent Zoom.
The new Happy mode, a color mode option in the iA mode, optimizes color, saturation and brightness to make both photos and movies more vivid and true to the color of the scene you memorized.
5. Other Versatile Functions Adding to the Photographic Enjoyment
The ZR3 (ZX3) is equipped with a 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD with super high resolution and a wide-viewing angle. The screen brightness automatically adjusts in 11 steps as the surrounding brightness level changes, ensuring easy visibility at all times. The big screen reflects fine details, making it easy to check the focus before shooting. It also serves as a small photo and video viewer, allowing the user and friends to enjoy viewing the still and motion images together.
Scene modes, which are optimized for a variety of still-image shooting situations, are now available for motion images as well. Thanks to a rich variety of 28 scene modes for photo and 18 for movie (Portrait, Soft Skin, Transform, Self Portrait, Scenery, Low Light, Food, Party, Candle Light, Sunset, Beach, Snow, Aerial, High Sensitivity, Pin Hole, Film Grain, High Dynamic and Underwater), capturing beautiful movies is effortless with the ZR3 (ZX3).
The optional marine case (DMW-MCZX3) is available for underwater photography even to 40m taking advantage of 25mm to 200mm wide shooting range.
In addition to the conventional SD/SDHC Memory Card, the DMC-ZR3 (ZX3) accepts next-generation SD format SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity), that features high potential in both capacity and data transfer speed. The DMC-ZR3 (ZX3) is compatible with Windows 7.

An Even More Rugged Design
Photo / Movie Hybrid Tough Digital Camera
LUMIX DMC-TS2 (FT2) with 28mm Wide-Angle Lens*
Featuring POWER O.I.S. and Intelligent Resolution Technology
*35mm camera equivalent: 28-128mm
Panasonic today introduced the new LUMIX DMC-TS2 (FT2), a successor to the LUMIX's first camera geared for active outdoor use DMC-TS1 (FT1). Featuring the AVCHD Lite HD movie recording capability, the new 14.1-megapixel TS2 (FT2) further strengthen its toughness to be waterproof to 10m, shockproof to 2m, freezeproof to -10 degrees C and dustproof. The camera is also empowered internally by the newly developed Venus Engine HD II integrating "Intelligent Resolution" technology.
The new image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution" is incorporated in the Venus Engine HD II for TS2 (FT2). By detecting the signals whether they are at edges of the subjects, they compose detailed texture or just a soft gradation first and give appropriate enhancement to the edges and textured areas respectively. Unlike the uniform enhancement of sharpness, it is possible to perform the optimum signal processing to give a whole image outstandingly natural clearness with fine details. It also realizes the virtual extension of 4.6x optical zoom to 6x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom. Starting at the 28mm wide angle, and zooming up to a useful 128mm in telephoto, this camera gives you the flexibility for virtually all shooting scenes — especially underwater, where movement is often restricted and the angle of view becomes important for composing your shots.
HD motion-image recording is available in AVCHD Lite allowing longer video recordings with breathtaking HD visual and audio quality, making it a true hybrid — a single model that performs admirably as both camera and camcorder while achieving smooth, easy operation in both recording modes.
Panasonic's iA (Intelligent Auto) mode — a hallmark of LUMIX cameras — includes POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) which features a double the repression power compared to the conventional image stabilization system, MEGA O.I.S. The hand-shake, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed, is effectively compensated by the new POWER O.I.S. to enjoy blur-free photography. The iA mode is also available in movie recording mode. It automatically selects the most suitable Scene mode and helps to correct handshake, focus and brightness problems — making iA mode your one-stop solution to capture beautiful photos and movies.
With an improvement of operational ease, an abundant of functions for both photo and movie recording are organized in the well-considered operational command layout and makes the DMC-TS2 (FT2) an advanced tough, hybrid digital camera.
The adoption of AVCHD Lite lets users enjoy watching not only still images but also HD movies just inserting the SD Memory Card from the camera into the VIERA Image Viewer (Built-in SD Memory Card slot) on a VIERA HDTV to start playback*. Alternatively, simply connect the camera via an optional mini HDMI cable to a VIERA Link-equipped TV and use the TV's remote control to run slideshows including both still and motion images in the timeline. The TS2 (FT2) features a 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD with a wide-viewing angle and AR coating assures high visibility during recording and playback by automatic brightness control according to the situation.
Enjoy stunning photos and HD videos with tremendous ease on land and under sea — the TS2 (FT2) is the ideal partner for your outdoor adventures.
1. Tough Body and 28mm Wide-Angle 6x Intelligent Zoom* for Superior Versatility in Both Photo and Movie Recording
The TS2 (FT2) features a high-quality LEICA DC VARIO ELMAR 28mm wide-angle lens with a 4.6x optical zoom*. The folded optics of shaft guide method is adopted to secure the toughness of the lens unit. Comprising 10 elements and a prism unit in 8 groups, including 1 ED lens and 5 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces passing the Leica's stringent standards to deliver exceptional optical performance to the edges. Thanks to the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the TS2 (FT2) which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even combining the digital zoom. This means the 4.6x optical can virtually extend to 6x equivalent. Furthermore, the Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 9.8x (at 3-megapixel resolution) by using the center part of the 14.1-megapixel high resolution CCD to bring subjects even closer.
With the enhanced toughness, the TS2 (FT2) is waterproof to a depth of 10m and dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. Thanks to rubber padding and reinforced glass and carbon resins inside the camera, the TS2 (FT2) features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. TS2 (FT2)'s cover panel of the LCD is thickened by 1.3x compared to the predecessor TS1 (FT1) to withstand pressure in underwater as deep as 10m.
The TS2 (FT2) is drop proof from a height up to 2.0m in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method516.5-Shock" test standard. In addition to reinforcing the exterior of the camera with shock-resistant material, the TS2 (FT2) uses folded optics to prevent its lens unit from taking damage when dropped during operation. The lens unit is protected by a supplementary damper to absorb the force from shock impact. All components including the lens unit are reexamined to endure the temperature as low as -10 degrees C to make the TS2 (FT2) freezeproof.
*Equivalent to 28-128mm on a 35mm camera.
2. Intelligent Resolution Technology Compiled in the New Venus Engine HD II Assures High Picture Quality for Both Photo and Movie
The high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine HD has been re-engineered to compile the new image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution". It enables the recording of beautiful photos and high-definition movies with higher quality signal processing.
Details of an image in high sensitivity recording tend to be lost in the noise reduction process, however, the Intelligent Resolution works to keep them.
0.24 (wide-end) / 0.28 (tele-end) second* and the short startup time of approx. 1.10 second. The high performance Venus Engine HD II is also energy efficient compared with the conventional Venus Engine HD, extending the battery life up to 360 shots (CIPA) per a single charge.
*Using 1-area AF.
3. Take Motion Picture Recording to the Next Level with New Generation AVCHD Lite and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode
In addition to Motion JPEG images, the DMC-TS2 (FT2) can record high-definition motion picture in AVCHD Lite. It features almost doubling the recording time in HD quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format. The picture quality is greatly enhanced thanks to the newly added Intelligent Resolution technology. The TS2 (FT2) also features Dolby Digital Creator to record high quality audio, so you can match the beautiful motion images with outstanding sound.
Now on the TS2 (FT2), the popular iA (Intelligent Auto) is also available in motion image recording. Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) helps prevent handshake when using zoom or shooting in low lit situations.
The 4.6x optical zoom is also available in movie recording. With the newly added Video Divide function, users can divide the video into two sections to shorten or to delete the unwanted half on the spot in the camera.
Alternatively, you can use an optional mini HDMI cable to output the still and motion images you took from the TS2 (FT2) directly to the TV for VIERA Link.
This mode is now further advanced with the inclusion of further advanced image stabilization system POWER O.I.S. and Intelligent Resolution technology for DMC-TS2 (FT2).
Taking advantage of Panasonic's accumulated optical technologies, MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) has been incorporated into LUMIX cameras from the early stage of digital camera development. MEGA O.I.S. has evolved into the POWER O.I.S. on the DMC-TS2 (FT2), with a great performance improvement — twice the shake suppression capability of the predecessor TS1 (FT1).
The DMC-TS2 (FT2) features the Face Recognition, a function that is popular in the previous TS1 (FT1), with several upgrades.
In addition, newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology is always activated in iA mode which results in the clearer and higher picture quality in every photo and movie with extended zoom range equivalent to 6x optical zoom.
Once you enter the iA mode, these functions happen automatically together with other powerful shooting-assist functions — AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure — so you can shoot without the bother of adjusting settings every time conditions change. You can enjoy easy, trouble-free shooting in any situation and get the satisfaction that comes with capturing clear, beautiful images.
The new Happy mode, a color mode option in the iA mode, optimizes color, saturation and brightness to make both photos and movies more vivid and true to the colors of the scenes you memorized.
5. Other Versatile Functions Adding to the Photographic Enjoyment
The TS2 (FT2) is equipped with a 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD with wide-viewing angle and AR (Anti-Reflection) coating.
The most commonly used scene modes for outdoor photography including Sports, Snow, and Beach & Surf can be accessed directly via the mode dial.
The High Dynamic mode is newly added to the existing Scene modes. This mode helps to capture a scene with moderate exposure, even though the scene contains both bright and dark areas together. The user can select any of three options, Standard, Art, or B/W, depending on the desired effect and personal taste to make the photo look natural to artistic.
The built-in LED light greatly supports shooting in dark situations and the included silicon jacket prevents the camera from scratching.
The optional marine case (DMW-MCFT2) is available for underwater photography even to 40m.
In addition to the conventional SD/SDHC Memory Card, the DMC-TS2 (FT2) accepts the next-generation SD format, SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity), that features high potential in both capacity and data transfer speed. The DMC-TS2 (FT2) is compatible with Windows 7.

About Waterproof / Dustproof performance of the camera
This camera's waterproof/dustproof rating complies with the "IPX8" and "IP6X" ratings. Provided the care and maintenance guidelines described as following are strictly followed, this camera can operate underwater, to a depth not exceeding 10m (33FT) for a time not exceeding 60 minutes. This does not guarantee no destruction, no malfunction, or waterproofing in all conditions.
- Attention -
Cleaning the rubber seal site (Around the card/battery door, terminal cover)
If any foreign material (hair, sand, dust, liquid, etc.) is present on the rubber seal or the area where the rubber seal sits, water can leak into the camera within a few seconds and cause malfunction.
If there is any foreign material, remove with supplied brush.
• Be careful not to let foreign material get into the camera when cleaning it.
• Pay extra attention when removing fine sand or wet sand.
• Foreign material will adhere to the grooves on the side of rubber seal or its four corners. Remove with the brush.
Handling of the brush
• Prior to use, check that no foreign material etc. is present.
• After use, shake any adhered foreign material etc. off.
To prevent water leak, take care not to nip any foreign objects, and close it by pressing until it clicks.
Use the camera underwater up to 10m (33FT) depth, water temperature from 0°C to 40°C, and not longer than 60 minutes continuously.
Do not leave the camera under low temperature in the cold climate, or where it has high temperature above 40°C for long period of time. (Waterproof performance will degrade.)
Do not use chemicals, such as benzene, thinner, or alcohol, soap, detergents.
If it was used in the sea, soak the camera in fresh water a shallow container of for 10 minutes or less. Do not leave the camera uncared for more than 60 minutes after using it underwater. It may cause deterioration of the waterproof performance.
To keep the waterproof performance, it is recommended to replace the waterproof seal (with fee) at least once every 1 year at the retail store where you have bought the camera.
When the zoom lever or mode dial becomes difficult to operate, dip the camera in a fresh water and remove the foreign objects.
About Shockproof performance of the camera
The test method of the camera is in compliance with “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”*.
* “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock” is the test method standard of the U.S. Defense Department, which specifies performing drop tests from a height of 122 cm, at 26 orientations (8 corners, 12 ridges, 6 faces) using 5 sets of devices, and passing the 26 orientation drops within 5 devices. (If failure occurs during the test, a new set is used to pass the drop orientation test within a total of 5 devices)
• Panasonic’s test method is based on the above “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”. However, the drop height was changed from 122 cm to 200 cm dropping onto 3 cm thick plyboard. This drop test was passed. (Disregarding appearance change such as loss of paint or distortion of the part where drop impact is applied)
There is no guarantee of not breaking or malfunctioning under all conditions.
About Freezeproof performance of the camera
The performance of the battery (number of recordable pictures/operating time) may decrease temporarily when using in a temperature between -10°C to 0°C (14°F to 32°F) (at the cold climate such as ski resort).
If the camera gets cold in a cold environment, performance of the LCD monitor may temporarily drop immediately after turning the power on, such as the picture on the LCD monitor being slightly darker than usual or ghost images appearing. Keep the camera warm when using in a cold environment. The performance will resume to normal when the internal temperature rises.
When using the camera in a cold place such as a ski resort, if the camera is left with snow or water drops still on it, the snow or water drops in-between the zoom lever, the mode dial, or the camera (OFF/ON) button may freeze, making it difficult for some parts of the camera to function properly. This is not a malfunction. When the camera returns to normal temperature it will function normal.
It is recommended to use the camera while keeping it warm in the coat etc.

The Ultimate Slim and Stylish Camera DMC-FX68 (FX66)
with 25mm Ultra Wide-Angle to Powerful 5x Optical Zoom*
Featuring Intelligent Resolution Technology
*35mm film camera equivalent: 25-125mm
Panasonic is pleased to introduce the new 14.1-megapixel LUMIX DMC-FX68 (FX66) to the world acclaimed slim and stylish FX series.
The new image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution" is incorporated in the Venus Engine VI for FX68 (FX66). This technology is integrated in iA (Intelligent Auto) mode — a hallmark of LUMIX cameras — making it possible to offer best automatic setting according to the scene.
The powerful 5x optical zoom* can be increased its power to 6.5x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function taking advantage of the Intelligent Resolution technology maintaining the picture quality even using digital zoom. The 25mm ultra wide-angle feature is ideal for both broad landscapes and tight indoor shots, letting photographers capture a wider view. The 14.1-megapixel high resolution CCD reproduces the detailed images corner to corner and affordable with trimming or even more powerful Extra Optical Zoom by using the center part of it.
Notably the Sonic Speed AF in the FX68 (FX66) features its speed at the industry's fastest level. Combined with a high-speed start-up, this gives the FX68 (FX66) an industry's fastest level of response that helps to catch even the most fleeting photo opportunities. The 2.7-inch large Intelligent LCD offers dynamic and clear view out of its small body. The battery life is also as powerful as approx. 380 pictures shooting thanks to the highly energy efficient image processing LSI, the Venus Engine VI.
Newly added options for FX68 (FX66) expand the fun of casual photography. The Happy mode, a color option in the iA mode, applies color filter to look both photos and movies more vivid. A new Scene mode, Cosmetic mode lets you take portraits with desired color and transparency of skin. Sunset mode helps capture an impressive sunset.
With a variety of color options of high-quality aluminum texture, the slim, ultra compact FX68 (FX66) best suits users who are awaiting the stylish camera that goes beyond the others.
*Equivalent to 35mm camera: 25-125mm.
1. 25mm Ultra Wide-Angle 5x Optical Zoom F2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens and 14.1-Megapixel High Resolution CCD
The 14.1-megapixel DMC-FX68 (FX66) packages a 25mm LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT high-quality lens with 5x optical zoom, offering F2.8 brightness*. Comprising 7 elements in 6 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses with 5 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit passes Leica's stringent standards and delivers an exceptional optical performance. Notably, Panasonic achieved the world's first incorporation of 0.3mm super thin aspherical lens and industry first 0.3mm spherical lens, both mold and mass production are difficult, into the newly developed lens unit. This makes it possible to fit the 25-125mm high performance lens in an astonishing slim and compact body. The 25mm ultra wide-angle lens records almost double the viewing space at the same shooting distance compared to ordinary 35mm cameras. Thanks to the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the FX68 (FX66) which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even using a digital zoom. This means the 5x optical can virtually extend to 6.5x equivalent. Furthermore, the Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 10.5x (at 3-megapixel resolution) by using the center part of the 14.1-megapixel high resolution CCD to bring subjects even closer.
*Equivalent to 35mm camera: 25-125mm.
2. The New Venus Engine VI Integrating Intelligent Resolution Technology Assures High Picture Quality
The high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine V has been re-engineered to compile the new image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution" to be the Venus Engine VI. It enables the recording of beautiful images with higher quality signal processing.
With the Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas — outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas are automatically detected. The outline parts are enhanced effectively to give edges more clearness while giving a moderate accentuation to the texture areas to look it more finely detailed. To the soft gradation part, superior noise reduction process of the Venus Engine VI is applied to make it smoother. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative technology, Intelligent Resolution, precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way for it. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp with fine detail.
The Intelligent Resolution technology also realizes Intelligent Zoom, which virtually extends the optical zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x to 6.5x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining the digital zoom. Details of an image in high sensitivity recording tend to be lost in the noise reduction process; however, the Intelligent Resolution works to keep them.
At the same time, the multi-task image-processing engine Venus Engine VI supports a super-fast response time. The shutter release time lag is as short as approx. 0.005 second and the camera's quick response makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities together with the industry's fastest level of Sonic Speed AF (Auto Focus) that lets you lock on the subject minimum in approx. 0.25 (wide-end) / 0.27 (tele-end) second* and the short startup time of approx. 1.06 second. The high performance Venus Engine VI is also more energy efficient compared with the conventional Venus Engine V, extending the battery life up to 380 shots (CIPA) per a single charge.
*Using 1-area AF.
3. iA (Intelligent Auto) Further Evolved with Intelligent Resolution Technology
Panasonic incorporated the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. In the iA mode the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots and capture moments. Just press, aim and shoot. This mode is now further advanced with the inclusion of the Intelligent Resolution technology for DMC-FX68 (FX66).
In addition, newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology is always activated in the iA mode which results in the clearer and higher picture quality even with the approx. 1.3x extended zoom range by Intelligent Zoom equivalent to approx. 6.5x.
Newly added Happy mode, a color mode option in the iA mode, optimizes color, saturation and brightness to make the image more vivid and true to the color of the scene you memorized.
4. Exciting Options to Expand the Fun of Photography in the High-Definition Era
All LUMIX cameras can take 16:9 HD (High Definition) quality photos that perfectly fit a wide-screen HDTV for full-screen viewing. You can enjoy slideshows of photos taken with the camera in stunning HD quality by inserting an SD Memory Card into the VIERA Image Viewer (SD Memory Card slot) with VIERA HDTV.
The new DMC-FX68 (FX66) even records dynamic HD movie in 1280x720p at a smooth 30 fps, in addition to WVGA (848x480) and normal VGA (640x480). You can use an optional mini HDMI cable to output the still and motion images you took from the FX68 (FX66) directly to play back them on the TV for VIERA Link. You can take maximum advantage of LUMIX camera's playback functions including the slideshow in which both still and motion images integrated in the timeline, category playback according to the scene mode you used or calendar display and so on. All control is possible using only the TV's remote control.
In addition, with the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0 Edition, it is easy to view and edit your recorded contents. You may also choose to upload your videos to YouTube or burn them to a DVD disc for archiving.
·Motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 15 minutes in some countries.
·Continuous recording exceeding 2GB is not possible when recording motion JPEG. Remaining time for continuous recording is displayed on the screen.
·Use a card with SD Speed Class with "Class 6" or higher when recording motion pictures in [MOTION JPEG].
*SD Speed Class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing.
5. Other Versatile Functions Adding to the Photographic Enjoyment
The FX68 (FX66) is equipped with a 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD with super high resolution and a wide-viewing angle.
The new scene mode Cosmetic mode, featured only in the FX68 (FX66), allows to take portraits with favored skin color (soft skin, natural skin, summer look) and degree of transparency of skin detail (low, standard, high). This makes it possible to take portraits with different impression of skin, for example, you can look yourself suntanned even if you're not or you can defocus the unwanted wrinkles or mottles like having a underlight for studio photoshooting.
In addition to the conventional SD/SDHC Memory Card, the DMC-FX68 (FX66) accepts the next-generation SD format, SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity), that features high potential in both capacity and data transfer speed. The DMC-FX68 (FX66) is compatible with Windows 7.
