Touch-screen operation raises operating ease to an intuitive level. It includes Touch Shutter for shooting, Touch AF for focusing – even when shooting videos – and Touch-scroll Playback for instant image retrieval.

![]()
Full-time Live View and the versatile AF mode are made possible by Contrast AF system. The DMC-GH2 also lets you comfortably frame your shots with the flexible free-angle LCD and LVF, and catch every shooting opportunity with Light Speed AF.

![]()
The DMC-GH2 features 3 Function buttons and 3 Custom Modes. A wide range of options are also available for the GUI. You can customize the settings to match your shooting style.

To elevate its operability even higher, the DMC-GH2 adopts touch-control shooting. The auto focus is immediately set to the subject by just touching it on the large, 460,000-dot LCD. You can also operate the auto focus and shutter release at the same time with just a touch, for a completely new way to shoot.
You can set touch control ON/OFF to make the camera more comfortable to operate*.

You can operate the auto focus and shutter release at the same time with just a touch. This kind of intuitive touch operation lets you easily catch even fast-action sports shots where your subject is on the move. It also makes it easy to capture decisive moments with optimal framing and settings. And this function can be used while shooting videos too.
* The picture aspect ratio will be fixed to 16:9.
Contrast AF system* gives the LUMIX G a variety of auto focus modes, including 1-area AF, which lets you set the frame and position virtually anywhere you want. The DMC-GH2 has also been provided with touch-screen operation in addition to ordinary dial and button operation, for more intuitive auto focusing. And you'll never miss another shooting opportunity with the high-speed, high-precision Light Speed AF.
* Lenses that are not compatible with the Contrast AF function can be used with manual focusing.

The 1-area AF function lets you focus on the subject in any part of the LCD – just touch the screen to point it out. You can also freely change the size of the AF frame.
![]()

The camera divides the 23 AF areas into 9 groups. When you select one of the groups, the camera automatically selects the optimal area from that group. The cursor lets you display only the part that is within the selected range.

Touch the screen, and the DMC-GH2 locks on and automatically "tracks" the subject as it moves, keeping on adjusting the focus settings for best results.

This mode will point the auto focus to a selected location while detecting faces in the image. It lets you capture creative shots by, for example, focusing on a flower in front of a person, or directing the focus to a person's eyes.

Full-area focusing makes it possible to focus on any point in the field of view*. This allows flexible frame composition and intuitive combines with touch-screen operation.

* Firmware must be updated to the latest version 1.1.

Touch AF can be activated on the DMC-GH2 even in video recording. This function quickly focuses on moving subjects, and also enables professional-like rack focusing.

In iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, simply touch the subject on the LCD and the DMC-GH2 automatically selects the optimal Scene Mode.

In the manual focusing, you can enlarge the part by just a touch to select 1x, 5x or 10x and smoothly move the part by dragging it on the screen. This makes it easier to check that you've got a sharp focus.

You can adjust the exposure compensation by sliding your finger on the aperture and shutter speed settings in the exposure meter shown on the LCD. The range in which appropriate exposure is not possible is shown in red, so you can intuitively grasp the corresponding aperture and shutter speed combinations.

The 12/30 Multi Display shows you images in a small thumbnail format. The DMC-GH2 makes it smooth and easy to find the exact shot you want even from a large number of thumbnail images.

Zoom Playback has become even more convenient. By simply touching the part to be enlarged, you can zoom in as much as max. 16x. The zoom area can be dragged in any of four directions for speedy and precise confirmation.
Full-time Live View lets you check your image even before you shoot it. And the DMC-GH2's mirrorless construction has made it possible to add a 1,533,600-dot equivalent LVF (Live View Finder). Both the LVF and the LCD give you a live view of what you're shooting with a field of view of approximately 100%. This makes it easier to capture a special shot or particular kind of image without having to shoot again and again, and gives you the highly accurate images you need. The viewing method can also be selected to match your shooting conditions and composition, which makes them ideal for active shooting and when shooting for long periods of time.

The DMC-GH2 has a 3.0-inch 3:2 460,000-dot free-angle LCD that rotates 180° to the side and tilts 270° up and down, and gives you approx. 100% field of view. This is a highly practical feature for high-angle shots, like when you need to shoot over the heads of people at a parade, and enables accurate, dynamic framing for artistic low-angle shots, like when shooting at nearly ground level. It's extremely convenient when shooting with a tripod too.

The wide viewing angle of the LCD is also handy both for shooting and for viewing the results together with family and friends. And LUMIX's acclaimed Intelligent LCD function automatically adjusts the brightness in 11 steps according to the shooting conditions. At the highest of these 11 steps, the LCD backlight becomes approximately 1.4 times brighter than normal. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, from nighttime to bright daylight.

With both LCD and LED backlight are newly designed to realize vivid, impressive color reproduction by 25%*. The primary colors-red, blue and green- are reproduced more clearly true to the original natural colors.
* In-house comparison with the previous model based on the CIE 1976 UCS Color Temperature Coordinate.

The LUMIX G camera's large, bright 1,440,000-dot equivalent LVF (Live View Finder) retains the outstanding viewability of an optical viewfinder and can also display information about camera settings that you can see without taking his or her eyes off the subject. Now the LVF is newly designed to be Multi Aspect Wide Screen LVF for DMC-GH2. Increasing the display area to 1,533,600-dot equivalent resolution, the new Multi Aspect Wide Screen LVF boasts the 0.71 x magnification and 100% field of view. Reducing the color breakup by half in principle, the new LVF assures stunning image view for any subject in any scenes. Together with the 60 fps Live View is made possible by the Live MOS sensor, which takes signals directly from the image sensor and sends them continuously to the LCD, in real time. This allows you, when composing a shot, to check the framing accurately from corner to corner.

Accurate framing with a field of view of approximately 100%, and multi-aspect ratio compatibility.
A built-in eye sensor automatically switches on the Live View Finder when you look into it, then switches it off and the LCD on when you look away. Sensitivity options - high, low and off - also reduce operating errors when touching the LCD. Since the same display style that was set for the LCD also appears on the LVF, you get a seamless live view at all times.

Confirm the depth of field and shutter speed effects by pressing the Preview button and Display button.

Brightness, saturation and colors of the LCD or the LVF can all be adjusted. This is handy because it lets you adjust them in advance, based on your computer display or other playback device.
Meticulous attention was paid to operating ease when designing the DMC-GH2. The body design allows you to freely customize their settings, using 3 new Function buttons and 3 Custom Modes. The GUI also offers a choice between LCD, LVF, and Touch-screen Operation depending on the shooting style, and each has a logical menu interface that is calculated to make operation easy and intuitive. The DMC-GH2 is sophisticated in form, offers an extensive function set, provides uncompromising performance, and delivers the ultimate in intuitive operating and shooting.

The DMC-GH2 features 3 function buttons. Functions that normally have to be selected or switched from a menu can be assigned to these buttons for faster, easier operation. The ability to freely customize settings depending on your shooting style brings even greater mobility to the camera.

Custom Mode stores up to 3 sets of frequently used settings in memory, for instant recall with the mode dial.

It memorizes up to 5 recently used items on the menu, so you can easily retrieve items that you frequently use.

Simply click the Q.MENU button and use the rotary / click rear dial or the cursor to smoothly switch settings for each shot, without having to take your eyes off of your subject when using the LCD or the LVF. The DMC-GH2 also has a Q.MENU especially for touch-screen use. You can select display style from the custom menu to match your shooting style.

The stylish GUI design of the DMC-GH2 allows you to choose a black, gray or silver settings screen.

If dust or other foreign matter gets inside the camera when you're changing lenses, it could cling to the image sensor and show up as a spot in your images. The Dust Reduction System in the DMC-GH2 helps eliminate this possibility by placing the Supersonic Wave Filter in front of the Live MOS sensor, between the low-pass filter and shutter. Every time the camera is switched on, the filter vibrates around 80,000 times per second to repel dust and other particles without affecting the camera's internal mechanisms, helping maintain superb image quality.

The design of the DMC-GH2 was created by pursuing both an elegant finish and easy comfort for users who demand the best in both photos and videos. The grip is covered in elastomer to provide a tight-fitting hold. And the shutter button is designed to allow a smooth slide release. Carefully calculating the button projection and angle has minimized hand-shake upon shutter release. The button is also ergonomically positioned so that the finger is naturally guided to it the moment the camera is held. This level of comfort makes the DMC-GH2 feel like a natural extension of the hand. The body comes in black or silver.
