LUMIX Special Features

The revolutionary structure of Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM), developed on the Micro Four Thirds system, eliminates the bulky mirror box and pentaprism found in conventional DSLRs, while still maintaining the use of high-quality. With such superior optical performance in a compact format, it’s easier for photographers to keep a camera with them at all times, and more importantly, it keeps photography fun.

LUMIX G / LEICA DG lenses are all developed in-house. Their quality is inspected by the UA3P Ultra-High Accuracy 3D Profilometer, an instrument that was originally developed by Panasonic and is now used by optical manufacturers all over the world. Panasonic’s collaboration with Leica Camera AG also resulted in stringent quality standards for these advanced lenses and a system in which each and every lens is inspected.
• LEICA is a registered trademark of Leica Microsystems IR GmbH.
Shooting with the LVF (Live View Finder) has been further enhanced in the DMC-GH3. Major controls such as shutter speed, exposure compensation, ISO and white balance settings can be quickly adjusted with the front / rear dials and rear jog dial while looking at the LVF.

You can customize a total of 7 function buttons (5 in button and 2 in touch menu tab) by allotting a function you use often.
Custom Mode 1 / 2 lets you register a series of settings you use often, you can instantly recall a pattern of the settings. And Custom Mode 3 lets you register patterns for up to 3 more settings.
You can also arrange the Q.MENU to your liking by simply dragging and dropping icons into position.

The DMC-GH3 is the first in the LUMIX G series to use a magnesium alloy frame. Its lightweight yet durable body brings ruggedness to the compact size of the digital single lens mirrorless camera to provide flexible shooting virtually anywhere.

A splash / dustproof design is achieved by tightly sealing the joints and control components of the body. In particular, careful attention was given to the popup flash. To prevent vignetting caused by the lens, the popup flash incorporates a sliding mechanism that raises the flash to its operating position. The DMC-GH3 has taken thorough measures to prevent the entry of dust and water from this section.

The DMC-GH3 is rugged enough to use in even the harshest environments. And this is also true for the lens, which has the same splash/dustproof design as the DMC-GH3 body. You're covered with a tough design and rugged protection throughout.

The newly developed Tough Battery allows reliable, extended shooting of both photos and videos. You can shoot approx. 540 images*1 / approx. 500 images*2.

The ergonomically designed Battery Grip DMW-BGGH3 gives the DMC-GH3 longer battery life of more than 1,000 pictures when using 2 batteries*. It offers comfortable grip and easy handling even in vertical shooting. Three dedicated buttons for exposure, ISO and WB are equipped in addition to the release button on the top as well as the front / rear dials to be used just in the same way of using the camera the DMC-GH3. This is also splash / dustproof design.
* One in a camera and another in a battery grip
• Battery pack (DMW-BLF19) and battery grip (DMW-BGGH3) are sold separately.
• Battery grip (DMW-BGGH3) can also be used as a grip for vertical shooting without mounting a battery.
To eliminate dust and other foreign matter that might otherwise enter the camera when changing lenses, SSWF (Super Sonic-Wave Filter) that vibrates approximately 80,000 times / second is mounted between the low-pass filter and the shutter. Each time the power is turned on, the filter oscillates the sensor surface to automatically remove dust and other particles.
