- VIDEO: The Toughness is obvious!
-
Vibration, free fall testings and more. TOUGHBOOK’s sturdy, robust, ruggedized body.
- All models are built extra rugged to withstand common accidents that include drops, pressure, and vibration.
-
It’s not unusual to have PCs accidentally fall off a desk. That’s why all models in the TOUGHBOOK/Business-rugged have been free-fall tested from 76 cm {30 in}* . All models are also able to withstand pressure, vibration, and even physical shock. These robust mobile PCs reduce the risk when using a PC on the jobsite.

The secrets behind Panasonic ruggedization
- Bonnet style magnesium top plate
-
A strong, light magnesium alloy is used as the body material. Also, the top plate incorporates a "bonnet construction", an idea we borrowed from automobile design. Without adding weight, rigidity is increased by shaping the metal to add structural strength, like a car hood. This increases the ability to withstand pressure so that the LCD panel is always protected. With new thinner LCD rear cover with slanted-leaf design and still keep the ruggedness. CF-SX2 can achieve LCD rear cover 32% thinner totally.

- Floating structure for mainboard protection
-
To protect the high-density mainboard, its mounting system is designed to resist external twisting forces.
- Shock absorbing material protects hard disk
Free fall tested from 76 cm {30 in}* -
Considering the average 76 cm {30 in}* height of a desk, TOUGHBOOK/Business-rugged mobile PCs have been free fall tested from 76 cm {30 in}* . While surrounding the hard disk with a shock absorbing material (damper), a low-rebound damper has also been set into the bottom of the case. Shock is physically reduced in order to protect your valuable data.

- LCD protected from shock of falling
by "arm embraced" structure -
The sides of the LCD protrude while the sides of the palm rests are recessed. The chassis engages with the LCD using an "arm embracing" structure, which effectively lowers the danger of damage if the computer is dropped.
