The reasons Toughbook/Toughpad does not meet these Windows 8 logo requirements yet certified by Microsoft as Specialized PC

A Microsoft Certified Specialized PC (SPC) is a system that has been designed specifically for an business vertical market with a special use case scenario which has an explicit design need to bypass or remove features normally required by certification.
1) 5 Point Touch
Windows 8 was designed to open 5 point touch to all new applications. Supporting less than 5 may limit functionality of some applications. Some Toughbook models adopt resistive touch to meet specific needs by commercial customers such as the use with the gloves or in the rain.
2) Wi-Fi, Camera and Bluetooth
These features are designed into Windows 8 for easy mobile browsing and communication. From the security point of view, some of Panasonic commercial customers do not require Wi-Fi, Camera and/or Bluetooth, thus we offer the Toughbook models without these devices on specific request.
3) Sensor Device
Windows 8 tablets are designed to be responsive to changes in their environment and expose this information to applications in standard ways. For some Panasonic's commercial customers with specialized applications, sensor devices are not required.
4) Resolution
Windows 8 requires the minimum native resolution of 1366x768 to enable Snap, a feature that allow easy movement between running applications. For better user experience of XGA fixed application utilized by Panasonic's commercial customers, some Toughbook models have the resolution of 1024x768.
5) Windows Button
Windows 8 requires the Windows start button for user navigation in the absence of a keyboard. Some Toughbook models designed to be mounted in vehicles or workstations interfere with the normal placement of the Windows Button.
6) Flush Bezel
Windows 8 requires the flush bezel to optimize user swipe interactions and other user interface navigation along the display edges for tablet PCs. To maintain the ruggedized durability which is one of Toughbook/Toughpad features and needed by commercial customers, Toughbook/Toughpad models have raised bezel. The Bezel was designed to balance ruggesness and effective swipe and other user interface navigation interactions.

マイクロソフト社認証 Specialized PC (SPC)は、法人のお客様の使用用途に合わせた特定の仕様をご提供するために、通常のWindows 8システムに必要とされる仕様を全て満たさずとも、マイクロソフト社に認証されているPCです。
1) 5 ポイントタッチ

Windows 8は、５ポイントタッチを要件としており、5ポイントタッチでの操作が適したアプリケーションがございます。
パナソニックでは、手袋着用時使用、降雨時使用等、特定の法人のお客様の用途に沿うため、モデルによっては感圧式タッチパネルを採用しています。

2) Wi-Fi、カメラ、Bluetooth
これらの要件はウェブブラウジングやコミュニケーションを快適にするための使用形態に基づいています。
パナソニックでは、セキュリティの観点から、特定の法人のお客様がWi-Fi、カメラ、またはBluetoothを不要とされているため、これらの機能を搭載していないモデルもご提供しています。
3) センサーデバイス
これらの要件は、使用環境に敏感に反応し、アプリケーションに反映させるための使用形態に基づいています。
パナソニックの特定の法人のお客様にとってはセンサーデバイスは不要な機能であり、お客様のご要望に沿えるよう、これらの機能を搭載していないモデルもご提供しています。
4) 解像度
Windows 8は、アプリケーションの切り替えや表示を簡単に操作するためのスナップ機能を有効にするため、解像度1366x768を要件としています。
パナソニックでは、特定の法人のお客様がご使用されているアプリケーションに対応するため、モデルによっては解像度が1024x768となっています。
5) ウィンドウズボタン
Windows 8は、キーボードがない場合の操作性を確保するため、ウィンドウズボタンの設置を要件としています。
パナソニックでは、法人のお客様がご使用されているカーマウンターの形状によりウィンドウズボタンを配置できない場合があり、ウィンドウズボタンを設置していないモデルもございます。
6) 平らな液晶枠
Windows 8は、スワイプ操作やその他ユーザーインターフェイスのディスプレイの縁に沿ったナビゲーションを最適化するため、平らな液晶枠を要件としています。
タフブック／タフパッドは、法人のお客様にご要望されていると同時にタフブック／タフパッドの強みでもある堅牢性を保ちながら操作性を確保するため、液晶枠に少し盛り上がりがございます。
