FAQ for the PT-VW435N, PT-VX505N, and PT-VX400NT

Answers are given here to questions concerning the PT-VW435N, PT-VX505N, and PT-VX400NT.

Question 1:
When the projector is connected to a wireless or wired LAN via an access point, the projector cannot be found by
software applications (Wireless Manager ME 6.0, Panasonic Wireless Projector for iOS/Android, etc.).

Answer:
If the network setting of the projector is as follows, the software may not be able to find the projector in some cases.

When the network number of USER1, USER2 or USER3 is used to connect to the wireless or wired LAN via an access point
and its IP address was automatically acquired by DHCP and set to 192.168.1.* (* may be any number from 1 to 254)

In that case, change the network address of the connected network to something other than 192.168.1.0.

Note: The network address is the part of the IP address set for the projector, PC or other devices that is used to identify the network.
For example, if the IP address is 192.168.1.100 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, the network address is 192.168.1.0.

[Confirmation of projector settings]

1) Confirmation of the setting for DHCP client function.

  • When using a wired LAN
    a. Display the on-screen menu.
    b. Select [Network] - [Wired LAN], and confirm that "DHCP" is set to On.
  • When using a wireless LAN
    a. Display the on-screen menu.
    b. Select [Network] - [Wireless LAN], and confirm that the network number is set to [User1], [User2] or [User3].
    c. Select [Network] - [Wireless LAN detailed setup], and confirm that "DHCP" is set to On.

2) Confirmation of the IP address of the projector

  • a. Display the on-screen menu.
  • b. Select [Network] - [Network status], and confirm the IP addresses of the wired LAN and wireless LAN. Each time
the “" button on the remote control is pressed, the status indication changes between wired LAN and wireless LAN.
  • c. Make sure that the IP addresses of the wired LAN and wireless LAN are not 192.168.1.*

[How to change the network address]

If the DHCP server is operated via a broadband router, it is necessary to change the settings of the broadband router.
There is no need to change the settings of the projector and other devices (such as PCs, tablets and smartphones)
if DHCP is set to On.
Consult with your network administrator before changing the network settings.

The following shows a settings example. For the specific setting method, refer to the operation manual for your broadband router.

Value before change (example) Value after change (example)
IP address of broadband router: 192.168.1.250 192.168.2.250
DHCP server's assignment start IP address: 192.168.1.101 192.168.2.101
DHCP server's assignment end IP address: 192.168.1.200 192.168.2.200

After the settings are made, restart the broadband router.
Also, perform the following operations in order to apply the change of the DHCP server's IP address.

  • a. Turn off the projector, unplug the AC power cord, then reconnect the AC power cord and turn on the projector.
  • b. Restart the PC.
If a tablet or smartphone is used, turn off the Wi-Fi setting, then reconnect to the access point.

Question 2:
When the projector is connected to a PC with a USB cable, the USB Display function does not automatically start
projection.

Answer:
If the network setting of the projector is as follows, the projector may not automatically start projection in some cases even when it is connected to the PC with a USB cable.

When the network number of USER1, USER2 or USER3 is used to connect to the wireless or wired LAN via an
access point, and its IP address was manually set to 192.168.1.* (* may be any number from 1 to 254).

In that case, change the network address of the connected network to something other than 192.168.1.0.

Note: The network address is the part of the IP address set for the projector or PC that is used to identify the network.
For example, if the IP address is 192.168.1.100 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, the network address is 192.168.1.0.

[Confirmation of projector settings]

1) Confirmation of the setting for static IP address.

  • When using a wired LAN
    a. Display the on-screen menu.
    b. Select [Network] - [Wired LAN], and confirm that "DHCP" is set to Off.
  • When using a wireless LAN
    a. Display the on-screen menu.
    b. Select [Network] - [Wireless LAN], and confirm that the network number is set to [User1], [User2] or [User3].
    c. Select [Network] - [Wireless LAN detailed setup], and confirm that "DHCP" is set to Off.
