Wireless Manager ME5.5 FAQ

Answers are given here to questions concerning wireless connection of the Wireless Manager ME5.5.

Question 1
Why does the computer’s resolution change to 1024 x 768 pixels after installing Wireless Manager ME5.5 on a Windows® Vista® computer?
Answer
Yes, we're sorry to say that these problems do exist with certain computers. In this case, please do the following. (This operation can only be done by a person with Computer Administrator privileges.)
  1. From the start-up menu, click [All Programs] - [Panasonic Wireless Display] - [Deletion of Wireless Manager mobile edition 5.5], and proceed with the un-installation by following the on screen-.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Install Wireless Manager ME 5.5.

    * If the resolution that you want is not 1024 × 768 pixels, continue with the following procedures.

  4. Click the control panel from the start-up menu.
  5. Click [Adjust screen resolution].
  6. Move the [Resolution] slider, select the resolution that you want, and click [OK].
Question 2
Why doesn't the screen saver operate properly after using Wireless Manager ME5.5 in a Windows® 7 computer?
Answer
Unfortunately, the above-mentioned problem can occur when Wireless Manager of a version prior to ME5.5d is used. Install the latest version of Wireless Manager ME5.5 by following the procedure below.
  1. From the Start menu, select and click [All Programs] - [Panasonic Wireless Display] - [Uninstall Wireless Manager mobile edition 5.5], and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the program.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Install the latest version of Wireless Manager ME5.5.

Question 3
Why doesn't the projector output sound when Wireless Manager ME5.5 is used in a Windows® 7 computer?
Answer
Unfortunately, this problem may occur depending on the environment of the computer being used. Please make the following setting.
  1. After launching Wireless Manager ME5.5, go to the Start menu, click [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound], and select [Sound].
  2. Check to see if "Panasonic Projector Audio Device" is set as the default device. If it is not set as the default device, select "Panasonic Projector Audio Device," click the [Set Default] button, and click the [OK] button in the Sound screen. (After Wireless Manager ME5.5 is closed, the previous default device setting will be restored.)
Question 4
Why can't I change the secondary display position when the secondary display transmission function of Wireless Manager ME5.5 is used in a Windows® 7 computer?
Answer
In a Windows® 7 computer, the secondary display position is fixed at the upper part of the primary display.
Question 5
Why can't a Windows® 7 computer using a wireless WAN connect to the projector?
Answer

Unfortunately, this may occur in some cases if a wireless WAN connection is not used.

[When a wireless LAN is used]
Use the [USER] connection. Also, be sure to set an IP address other than "169.254.**.**".
[When a wired LAN is used]
Set an IP address other than "169.254.**.**".

Question 6
Why does the screen sometimes fail to transmit properly when the area size is larger than 1024 x 768 pixels using the area selective transmission function of Wireless Manager ME5.5?
Answer
Unfortunately, this problem may occur in some cases. Please set an area size smaller than 1024 x 768 pixels.
Question 7
Why doesn't the image update when a Microsoft Office 2010 slide show (PowerPoint 2010) is run on a Windows® XP computer using Wireless Manager ME5.5 in Live mode?
Answer
Unfortunately, this problem may occur when the application is used with the combination of a Windows® XP computer and PowerPoint 2010. Please use one of the following solutions and operating procedures, and run the Live mode again.
Solutions
(1) Use the "Presenter View" of PowerPoint 2010.
(2) Set the hardware acceleration to "None."
(3) Uninstall Wireless Manager ME5.5, and use it without installing it.

[Operating Procedure 1]

Use the "Presenter View" of PowerPoint 2010.

  1. Start Wireless Manager ME5.5 and connect the PC to the projector to be used.
  2. Choose "display change" - "secondary" from the launcher menu, then press the Live button, and use Live mode.
  3. Open PowerPoint 2010, change "Show On:" on the Slide Show setting menu (ribbon control) of PowerPoint 2010 to "Monitor 3 (Default Monitor)" (*1), and place a checkmark in "Use Presenter View."
    (*1) The display name varies with the computer being used.
  4. Run the PowerPoint 2010 slide show.

* For details on the Presenter View operation method, refer to the "Secondary Display Transmission Function - Advanced Operation Guide" in the CD-ROM that comes with the projector.

[Operating Procedure 2]

Set the hardware acceleration to “None.”

  1. Choose [Control Panel]-[Display] on the computer being used, and open "Display Properties."
  2. Choose the "Settings" tab and press the "Advanced" button.
  3. Choose the "Troubleshoot" tab and set "Hardware acceleration:" to "None."
  4. Press the "Apply" button and close the "Display Properties" screen.
  5. Run the PowerPoint 2010 slide show.

* After the PowerPoint 2010 slide show is finished, return the hardware acceleration setting to "Full" to return the "Display Properties" to their previous condition.

[Operating Procedure 3]

Uninstall Wireless Manager ME5.5, and use it without installing it.

  1. Click [All Programs]-[Panasonic Wireless Display]-[Remove Wireless Manager mobile edition 5.5] from the start menu, and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the program.
  2. Download Wireless Manager ME5.5 after clicking "(Without Installation)" from the application software download page, then start the Wireless Manager ME5.5 application.
  3. Run the PowerPoint 2010 slide show.

* The following limitations apply when using the application "Without Installation":
   - The area selective transmission function cannot be used.
   - The secondary display function cannot be used.
   - The function that outputs audio together with images in Live mode cannot be used.
* The transmission speed is slower than when using the application in the installed condition.

Question 8
Why can't I automatically connect to the projector through the computer's cable LAN adaptor even though the box next to [Make an automatic connection.] is checked?
Answer
When the projector is connected via the computer's cable LAN adaptor, the automatic connection function in the [Other] tab screen in [Option...] cannot be used. To use the automatic connection function, specify a projector connected via the computer's wireless LAN adaptor.

Question 9
Why won't Live mode start when my Macintosh computer wakes up after it enters Sleep mode while Wireless Manager ME5.5 is starting?
Answer
Unfortunately, the above-mentioned problem may occur due to a disconnection of the projector. Reselect the projector to connect to by following the operating procedure below.
  1. While Wireless Manager ME5.5 is starting up, click the launcher menu button.
  2. Click [Select Access Port...] in the launcher menu.
  3. Click the [Update] button in the projector search screen to update the list of projectors.
  4. Select the projector to connect to, and click the [Connect] button.
Question 10
Why can't I send images from a Macintosh computer even though [Start Live Mode when connection is made] has been selected in Wireless Manager ME5.5?
Answer

If the connected projector is in a standby status in which the network function is enabled (Network Standby or "Standard" Standby mode), the following condition may result and prevent the transfer of images.

• A message appears indicating that Live mode failed to start up.
• The "Searching" message remains displayed on the screen.

When this happens, conduct either Operating Procedure 1 or Operating Procedure 2.

[Operating Procedure 1]

  1. While Wireless Manager ME5.5 is starting up, click the launcher menu button.
  2. Click [Select Access Port...] in the launcher menu.
  3. Click the [Update] button in the projector search screen to update the list of projectors.
  4. Select the project to connect to, and click the [Connect] button.

[Operating Procedure 2]

Close Wireless Manager ME5.5, then restart Wireless Manager ME5.5 and reconnect to the projector.

Question 11
Why can't Live mode be restarted when the projector is set to Standby mode (power OFF) from the remote control after Live mode has ended using Wireless Manager ME5.5 in a Macintosh computer?
Answer
If the connected projector is in a standby status in which the network function is enabled (Network Standby or "Standard" Standby mode), Live mode may fail to resume and prevent the transfer of images. In that case, conduct the following operation.
  1. While Wireless Manager ME5.5 is starting up, click the launcher menu button.
  2. Click [Select Access Port...] in the launcher menu.
  3. Click the [Update] button in the projector search screen to update the list of projectors.
  4. Select the project to connect to, and click the [Connect] button.
Question 12
Why is it that when Wireless Manager ME5.5 is installed and started in default condition, without connecting to a wireless LAN, immediately after doing a clean installation of Mac OS X v10.4, a message appears and indicates that the network adaptor cannot be found or Wireless Adaptor cannot be selected in the Network Adaptor Selection screen?
Answer
Unfortunately, the above-mentioned problem may occur in some cases. If this happens, conduct either Operating Procedure 1 or Operating Procedure 2 once before using Wireless Manager ME5.5.

[Operating Procedure 1]

Connect the computer to the access point in use.

[Operating Procedure 2]

Set the projector temporarily to [USER Connection], and connect the projector manually and temporarily by using the menu bar on the computer as described below.

  1. In the network menu of the projector, select [Wireless LAN] and one of [USER1] through [USER3]. Take note of the [SSID] for the selected setting. (This is set to [Panasonic Projector] at the factory.) Make sure that the mode is set to [AD-HOC] and DHCP is set to [OFF].
  2. In the menu bar of the computer, select [AirMac] or [AirPort], and choose [Panasonic Projector].
  3. After completing the described operation, return the [Wireless LAN] setting in the network menu of the project to the desired setting. In subsequent use, the network function can be used by simply launching Wireless Manager ME5.5.

* The names of menu items shown above are those displayed by the PT-FW300NT/FW300/F300NT/F300/LB90NT.
Note that the menu item names and setting items may vary in other projector models.
