Attention in the use of Gracenote^® Database

1. Period of Publication
   1. The period to publicize the update is up to end of 2016. Frequency of update is scheduled to be 3 or 4 times a year.
   2. Publication and update may be discontinued without notice with any reasons of Panasonic or Gracenote even though it is within above mentioned period.
2. Limitation of Display Functions Using Gracenote^® Database:
   1. This function displays the 3 types of information, album title, song title, and artist name, of the audio CD, utilizing the database built-in the DVD Recorder.
      Therefore, if the information for the CD you are listening is not in the built-in database, album title, song title, and artist name might not be displayed.
      Please input the album title, song title, and artist name using the enter namefunction of the DVD Recorder in this case.
   2. New information for the album title, song title, and artist name will not be applied to the songs that are already copied into the HDD of the DVD Recorder. Perform the copy of the audio CD on the DVD Recorder again after updating the database.
3. Update Procedure
   Database built-in on the DVD Recorder can be updated via USB memory. Most current database is publicized in this web site, so you can download and update, following the update procedure. (USB memory with more than 1 GB storage area is necessary.)
   Step 1. Download the database
   Step 2. Extract the downloaded file
   Step 3. Copy the files to the USB memory
   Step 4. Insert the USB memory to the unit
   Step 5. Perform the update
   
   Step 1. Download the database
   Download the database to your PC from this web site. File name is cddb.exe, and it is a self extracting archive file for the Windows.
   • The size of file is about 500 MB.
   • PC with the Windows is necessary to extract the archive file.
   • It may take time to download the file depending on the Internet connection environment.
   • It is necessary to have free disk space of about 1.5 GB on the HDD of your PC to download and extract the file.
   • Precise file size is listed in the What’s New in this web site, so please compare with the file size of the downloaded file to make sure the file was downloaded properly.
   Step 2. Extract the downloaded file
   Extract the downloaded file (cddb.exe) by double clicking it.
   Three files will be created once the extracting is completed.
   • ecddb.mdt
   • elists.db
   • ecddb.idx
   Step 3. Copy the files to the USB memory
   Insert the USB memory to your PC, and copy these files to the root directory of the USB memory (volume: 1 GB or larger). Copy these files into uppermost level of the USB memory, and not inside any folders.
   Step 4. Insert the USB memory to the unit
   Remove the USB memory from the PC, turn the power on the DVD Recorder, select the input of the connected TV to the DVD Recorder, and insert the USB memory into the USB port ( below).
   
   Step 5. Perform the update
   Perform the update in accordance with the description of update of Gracenote^® Database in the Operating Instructions of the DVD Recorder.
   Following is an example of update for DMR-EH58:
   1. A screen for "USB device" is displayed on the connected TV screen when the USB memory is inserted. Use the remote control for the DVD Recorder to select "Update CD database on HDD" and press [OK].
   2. Select "Update" using the remote control of the DVD Recorder, and press [OK]. The update will start.
      • It will take about 20 minutes to update.
      • Do not disconnect the USB memory and the AC mains lead while updating. The equipment may be damaged by the action.
      • Once started, you cannot cancel updating.
   3. Once the update is completed, a message will be displayed. Press [OK].
      • If you do not do anything after the message is displayed, the message will be erased automatically, and it will return to the tuner screen.
      • Other operations such as timer recording are not executable during the update.
4. Disclaimer of Exclusion
   1. Perform the update of database on your own responsibility. The warranty might not cover certain malfunctions during the update even if it is still under warranty.
