Models are available with an integrated wireless LAN feature that is compatible with four standards, IEEE802.11a/b/g^*1 and IEEE802.11n draft 2.0^*1, that can be switched to suite your purpose or location. Using public wireless LAN services^*2, you can enjoy high-speed wireless transmission of speeds up to 300 Mbps^*3.

Short-Distance Wireless Communications with Bluetooth®
(Ver.2.0+EDR^*1/Class1).

Bluetooth® enables the wireless exchange of information or audio data between compatible equipment, such as nearby PCs, cellular phones, PDAs, or printers. Furthermore, since Class 1 is supported, the signal is so strong that communication can widely use up to approximately 100 m is possible^*2.

Built in Security Chip

Built-in Security Chip (TPM)*

Powerful security is achieved since the encryption key stores on differnt hardware (security chip) separete from the hard disk where data is stored. In the case of unauthorized access, steal or loss of the hard disk, the encryption key will not be found.

What is a Security Chip (TPM)*

Established by TCG (Trusted Computing Group), an organization promoting security standardization, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is a computer chip that contains an encryption key for security and privacy protection.

*Installation of Infineon TPM Professional Package is required to use this feature.

Hard disk data erase utility.

Special software renders all of the data stored in the hard disk unreadable. You can use this software to easily minimize the danger of data being stolen when you dispose the notebook PC.

Hard disk protection.

You can specify a password for accessing to the hard disk. Even if someone removes the hard disk and connects it to another computer, the data cannot be accessed without the password.

Security slot for theft prevention.

The mobile PC are subject to being stolen not only when outdoors or in the car. To protect yourself from theft in the office, TOUGHBOOK offers a strong lock system that lets you actually lock it to your desk.

*The Kensington Slim MicroSaver, a security lock that was used for testing the security of the TOUGHBOOK, is recommended.
However, using a security lock or security cable does not guarantee protection against theft.
