Venue: Messe Berlin (Berlin, Germany)
Number of Exhibiting Companies: 1,439
Attendance: Approx. 240,000
Visitors to the Digital AVC Zone were greeted by the huge Swipe & Share Monument, which combined a huge bank of displays.

The displays presented a magnificent underwater ocean scene that made the area look as if it were sitting in the middle of the ocean.
The highly popular Swipe & Share function exemplifies the easy operation of Smart VIERA. By downloading the VIERA remote App to a smartphone or tablet, the device can be used as a remote controller, and still images, videos, or music stored in the smartphone or tablet can be easily transferred to VIERA.
When a visitor touched the screen of the tablet in front of the Swipe & Share Monument, a list of fish appeared. By choosing one of the fish and swiping the screen toward the monument, the fish's image instantly appeared on the huge multi-display screen. This allowed many visitors to experience Swipe & Share's easy operation.

Just choose a fish on the tablet ... and swipe!
This was another Swipe & Share booth. Swiping the content on the screen of the tablet in front of the VIERA displays transferred it to the VIERA screen.

The update to VIERA remote App Version 2.1 was announced at IFA. Its main feature is Swipe Back. In addition to being able to use still images, videos, or music that was transferred from a smartphone or tablet by Swipe & Share onto VIERA, the new version lets you Swipe Back the content to a different smartphone or tablet. This makes it easier to share content with family and friends.
* This application is scheduled to be updated this autumn.
The Swipe Back function was also demonstrated at the sub-stage shown here.

Content from an SD card, USB memory stick, or HDD that was displayed on VIERA can also be transferred to a smartphone or tablet by using Swipe Back. This photo shows a visitor trying out Swipe Back with SD card content.

The Browse & Share corner let visitors experience comfortable browsing of Web content and easy device-to-device sharing with tablets and other devices using VIERA remote App.

This space presented the high-speed processing of Dual Core Pro4 technology. Visitors saw how its speed makes apps within VIERA Connect smooth and easy to operate.
The Networking corner presented a variety of apps for VIERA Connect use, shown in a floating motif that created an image of cloud-based content.

The left side of this photo shows a corner for trying out the Voice Guidance function, which helps the user operate and make settings by verbally reading out guidance instructions.
This function won the Inclusive Design Award by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in the UK.
Upcoming apps were also on hand for preview playing. The "ABC for Kids" learning game was announced from the Kids category, and "Kingdoms & Lords," "Dungeon Hunter," and "Star Battalion" were announced from the Game category.

Children loved the hands-on game playing corner provided prior to the launch.
The Picture Quality booth had spaces promoting the picture quality of both LCD LED and plasma displays.

This corner promoted IPS LED LCD moving-picture resolution. As the photos show, the 2012 model on the left renders the image much more sharply and clearly. The LED LCD corner also showed a comparison of viewing angles.

This demonstration showed the high contrast of the NeoPlasma display.
A total of 24 LED LCD TV models are marketed in Europe. Of these, 17 models have acquired the A+ European Union energy label. This booth showed real-time figures displaying the difference in power consumption between new and previous Panasonic models under operation.

Each of the VIERA Series that was created under Panasonic's Future Craft design philosophy was on display at the Design booth.

The VIERA 2012 models were highly evaluated for their Glass and Metal concept.
Panasonic received the EISA Award (from the European Imaging Sound Association) in three categories, one of which included VIERA. The TX-P50VT50 high-end plasma TV was highly acclaimed for its black rendering, color reproduction, and FULL HD 3D picture quality, leading to its selection for the "European Plasma TV 2012-2013" award.

The Technology booth, which was located inside the VIERA Picture Quality booth, exhibited a number of leading-edge Panasonic display technologies. Starting with 145" 8K PDP and 20" 4K LCD models, this included an Interactive Multiview 3D System and the 103" Glassless 3D PDP (a prototype model), the world's largest display enabling 3D viewing with the naked eye and marking its first public appearance.
The 20" 4K2K LCD treated visitors to these delicate high-resolution flower images.

The Interactive Multiview 3D System allowed previously captured 3D images to be viewed while using a tablet to change the viewpoint vertically and horizontally.

The 103" Glassless 3D PDP (a prototype model) showed 3D images viewable by the naked eye, allowing breathtaking views of auto bodies and interiors.

This year again, interactive, live streaming video was broadcast from the IFA venue to provide views of Panasonic exhibits. Mr. Kazuhiro Tsuga, Panasonic President, also participated with a message from IFA.

Please look forward to more Panasonic progress in the remarkable and multi-faceted world of Smart VIERA.
