We developed a battery management system (BMS) with functions to control charge and discharge of electricity generated by photovoltaic modules. A BMS consists of multiple Standard Battery Systems for Power Storage and a battery management controller. By advancing our technology for controlling the charging and discharging of batteries acquired in our long history of manufacturing laptop PC batteries, we have succeeded in realizing a system that can manage a large-scale storage battery system of more than 250,000 battery cells, such as the one in the power storage building, as if it were a single battery. The battery management controller accurately detects the conditions for the lithium-ion batteries based on the electric voltage, electric current and temperature, and maximizes the performance of this large-scale storage battery system as a whole.
