“Teenagers and Environment Festival” held in Vietnam

6 Panasonic Group companies in Vietnam and the HCYU (Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union) held a joint event “Teenagers and Environment Festival” on June 5, 2010.

1,100 students from local primary/secondary schools in Hai Phong City and 200 adults (1,300 altogether) gathered and worked together to plant a total of 2,600 trees including casuarina trees (fulfills the role of windbreaks and preventing tides) and mangroves such as sonneratia and kandelia trees. Additionally, the teenagers painted environment-themed pictures, the best of which were awarded afterwards.

As a part of “Panasonic Eco Relay” which is conducted worldwide since 2008, this activity was planned with the purpose of supporting local environmental activities and increasing environmental awareness of teenagers who are to lead the next generation. Prior to the actual event, 40 media-related parties were present at the press conference held on June 1 at the HCYU. We plan to continue holding environmental activities aligned with the local areas and contribute to local communities.
