The first International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition (IGEM) 2010, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia showcasing environmental technologies and energy-saving products, was held from October 14 to 17, 2010, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its theme was a Green New Deal, and Panasonic attended the exhibition with its booth.

The exhibition is part of the state green technology strategy announced by the Malaysian government in 2009 and is to be held annually by the Malaysian Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and the Green Purchasing Network Malaysia (GPNM). It featured displays from 270 companies or organizations, including 30 from Japan and others from Europe, Taiwan, and Korea, with a total of 86,000 visitors.

First unveiling of HIT solar panels

Panasonic's “Eco Dream”-themed booth contained all sorts of environmentally conscious products, including the first unveiling of HIT solar panels, inverter air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, VIERA plasma televisions, LED lighting, DECT cordless phones, and multi-air conditioners for buildings. Much popularity from the visitors was achieved, and our booth also received a Best Booth Design award.

Our booth was visited after the opening ceremony on the day before its opening (October 13) by the Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, and on its second day (October 15) by His Majesty Mizan Zainal Abidin (thirteenth head of state of Malaysia), Peter Chin Fah Kui, Malaysian Minister of KeTTHA, and other VIPs.

A press conference was also held for 50 reporters on the first day of the exhibition (October 14) to announce Panasonic's initiatives aiming at becoming the No. 1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry by 2018.
