Scene of the venue

On November 17, 2010, Panasonic announced ‘eco ideas’ Declaration as a commitment to its midterm environmental activities. The press conference was attended by a total of 65, including representatives from the Federal Agency of Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth, 45 journalists from 37 press-related companies, Panasonic Russia (PRA) Managing Director Junichiro Kitagawa, and Corporate Environmental Affairs Division Associate Director Machiko Miyai.

The conference featured a video illustrating Panasonic's aim to become the No. 1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry by its 100th anniversary in 2018. Associate Director Miyai outlined Panasonic's global environmental strategy, which was followed by the announcement of the ‘eco ideas’ Declaration in Russia by Managing Director Kitagawa.

Outline of the ‘eco ideas’ Declaration in Russia

‘eco ideas’ for Lifestyles (Green Life Innovation)

  1. Increase the ratio of Superior Green Products (GP) sales
PRA will increase the ratio of Superior Green Products up to 30% by FY’12 (from 8% in FY’09).
  2. Strengthen eco-themed promotional activities through showrooms
PRA will set up an eco corner in the Panasonic i-Plaza showroom in Gorbushka, Moscow's electronics marketplace, from December this year. This will be a showcase of Panasonic's eco initiatives including energy-saving products and environmental activities for consumers.

‘eco ideas’ for Business-styles (Green Business Innovation)

  1. Eco learning activities for the next generation in Russia
    1. PRA became an official partner for the eco activities of the Technology of Goodness Project for youth implemented by the Federal Agency of Youth Affairs. Both the Agency and PRA are working together to support the realization of an excellent project.
    2. Expansion of the Panaboard Eco Project
PRA provides an eco learning program using Panaboards -- Panasonic's electronic whiteboards -- to 57 elementary and junior high schools in Russia. After the lessons, PRA organizes a contest for eco projects created by the children based on what they have learned. PRA will give support to the realization of the best projects.
    3. Kids Witness News (KWN)
Through collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Education and the Film Department of Moscow University, PRA will continue to expand KWN, an educational program where PRA supports children in elementary and junior high schools to create videos with environmental protection themes (14 schools participated in FY'09).
  2. Promote green logistics
PRA will shift 50% of the product volume from Asia/China origins to transportation modes/routes with less environmental impact by 2012.
  3. Participate in eco activities of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games Organizing Committee
Panasonic will actively participate in eco activities of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games Organizing Committee as an Olympic Partner.
  4. Expand employees' voluntary eco activities
The "Environment Day" will be designated twice a year for employees to participate in volunteer activities such as tree-planting and clean-up events.
