Zero lead added!

Panasonic is among the first in the world to eliminate lead from its manganese batteries. As of 2014, these cells do not contain lead, cadmium, or mercury, protecting you during use and the environment after battery disposal. And thanks to premium technologies such as a specialized zinc-alloy can, they’re also more resistant to damage and corrosion.

Note: Production of manganese batteries with no lead, mercury, or cadmium commenced in April 2014 in our Polish and Indonesian factories.

High performance in harsh climates

Most batteries suffer a sharp drop in performance when used in extreme temperatures. Our batteries are designed to operate consistently in harsh climates in most regions of the world.

Choosing the right battery

Differences in battery structures and capacities

Alkaline

For devices that use a high, continuous current
Alkaline dry batteries are able to produce a higher current than manganese dry batteries. This is because the electrolyte consists of potassium hydroxide, which is an alkaline-aqueous solution that enables a higher flow of current.

For devices with a low current load, such as remote controllers
Dry batteries basically consist of three materials: metal, metal oxide, and electrolyte. Manganese dry batteries use manganese dioxide for the positive electrode, zinc chloride (or ammonium chloride) for the electrolyte, and zinc for the negative electrode.
