Japan's postwar society was ravaged by inflation, food shortages and dishonest business practices. In November 1946, Konosuke founded an organization to address fundamental questions concerning the human condition. Based on the concept of "Peace and Happiness through Prosperity", he named this organization the PHP Institute, and began publishing the PHP Magazine the following year.
