Management of Chemical Substances in Products
— Bring our products that "achieve a sustainable society" and "minimize an environmental impact" to our customers —

As represented by the enforcement of the REACH regulation in the European Union, the world is moving toward the goals agreed at the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) held in 2002. Specifically, the goal aims to produce and use all chemical substances in a manner that minimizes their impact on health and the environment by 2020. The Company provides a solution globally to "achieve a sustainable society" and "to minimize an impact on the environment" through our products such as electronic components, electronic materials, semiconductors and memory devices to our customers.

To promote our initiatives clearly and respond to customer demand globally, we set forth the "Company' s Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (for Products)." The Guidelines aims to specify which chemical substances (environmental impact substances) contained in materials or parts of our products which we manufacture and sell should be prohibited for use or be controlled. The Company requests adherence to the Guidelines not only within our company but also to our suppliers.

The Company' s three principles for management of chemical substances in products

We follow the below three principles through our global activities.

• Don’t use:Do not use prohibited substances in design stage.
• Don’t buy:Do not buy prohibited substances in procurement stage.
• Don’t sell:Do not sell products which contain prohibited substances in manufacturing stage.

Prohibited substances	Level1	Substances whose use in products is prohibited by laws and regulations Substances whose use in products will be prohibited by laws and regulations within one year Substances whose use in products is prohibited within the Company
	Level2	Substances whose use in products will be prohibited by international treaties or laws on and after a specified date Substances whose use in products is voluntarily restricted by the Company
Managed substances		Substances whose actual use status must be further researched and whose impact on health and safety as well as appropriate treatment must be considered Substances whose use or non-use and the amount of use must be further researched
