Development without compromise

Manufacturing products people trust,
we are committed to a policy of persistence.

The origin of product development at Panasonic.
This is our refusal to compromise on anything.

Abundant experience cultivated over years of operations.
Persistent efforts to avoid even the smallest failures. And a spirit of inquiry extending even to people's sensibilities...

We seek further evolution through tireless pursuit of new technologies, in an ongoing search for state of the art quality on the leading edge.

Fact:01

From black & white TVs to the Viera More than 50 years of TV production history

Panasonic began researching TVs in 1935. We sold our first TV in 1952 as a result of this diligent research and development, beginning the television age. Since then, we have continuously provided the world with TVs at the forefront of their times, including the worldwide hits Quintrix in 1974 and Gaoo in 1990. Now we have incorporated the technical know-how we have accumulated in the over 50 years since the beginning of TV sales, over 70 years since research was begun, into the newest Viera model.

TVs are now changing from TVs to be watched to TVs to be interacted with. We will continue to create new TVs using our leading-edge ideas and techniques.

Fact:02

The crystallization of our unending pursuit of technology Full HD V-Real Pro System, creating exciting images

"The Full HD V-Real Pro Processor," which is a chip just a few centimeters square, conducts high speed video processing. The "Full HD V-Real Pro Driver" converts signals from the processor into the appropriate plasma discharges. The "Full HD V-Real Pro Panel" faithfully recreates the video signal. Finally, the "Full HD V-Real Pro System," based on these three technologies, realizes exciting images.

Clear and accurate motion image resolution. Natural textures and tight blacks. And gradients are rich and expressive. This high picture quality, which we require for our large screen TVs, is realized by our "Full HD V-Real ProSystem," which is the crystallization of our unending pursuit of technology.

Fact:03

Not even one defect in 6,000,000 The expertise of the engineers supporting Viera

The 103-inch Full HD-compatible Viera panel is a giant at approximately 2.3 m X 1.3 m (92" X 52"). There are more than six million light emitters aligned in the plasma panel and our engineers won't let even one defect slip by. The 1,920 red, green and blue light emitters horizontally and 1,080 vertically are thoroughly checked with a high-magnification loupe and a variety of inspection equipment, and if a problem is found, it is investigated until the cause is found and the problem solved.

Even the smallest areas are thoroughly checked and improved in order to create extremely powerful images on a large screen. Our engineers do not compromise and their vision extends to even the microscopic.

Fact:04

For the world's top class productivity Plasma panel multi-cut technology

Cutting out as many panels as possible from a single, original sheet of glass is a production technique crucial to improving efficiency. As efficiency improves we are able to provide plasma TVs to our customers at even more reasonable prices.

While the sheet may be huge, it's also extremely thin at 1.8 mm (0.072"). These original glass panels are extremely difficult to cut into even a few panels. However, we started at one panel, then three, and now we've succeeded at cutting it into six panels. Additionally, we are aiming for ten panels at the newest factory in Japan, which will start its operation in 2009.

We will continue to deliver high-quality plasma panels to our customers with increasing efficiency and at lower costs.
This is only the beginning of our challenge.

Fact:05

From low eye strain to safety Advantages of plasma TVs

One feature of plasma TVs is that they control light emissions from each pixel individually according to the scene, reducing glare. The Viera HD Plasma, in particular, recreates rapidly moving images, such as sports and video games, clearly and without blurring, realizing a beautiful, easy-to-view, high-quality picture.

Additionally, the Plasma Viera can be viewed from all angles and now everyone can enjoy a clear, fresh image. The screen is also made of glass, making it resistant to stains, scratches and unexpected shocks.

From an easy-to-view screen to safety features, our technology takes into consideration even the smallest concerns. We always base our standards of production around people.

Fact:06

Reflecting human emotion on TV The experience and technology to create beautiful images

As every individual has a different idea of what constitutes a "beautiful sky," "beauty" is ambiguous and difficult to define. However, we are continuously researching the basis of "beauty" based on scientific data and the experience with human senses and color perception that we have amassed in more than 50 years of TV development. Viera's image processing circuits are repeatedly tested visually by our superb engineers and show improvement on a daily basis.

A variety of sample images have been used in testing since the time of brown tubes and a vast amount of data has been accumulated based on these tests. It is the accumulation of these techniques and experiences that creates beautiful images.
