Beijing 2008 were the first Olympic Games for which official video footage was produced in an HD format and all thrilling competitive scenes were recorded as high quality High Definition images. Panasonic supplied a full range of HD equipment to the Olympic venues, broadcasting sites, and to households throughout the world and was broadcast the excitement of 17 days of competition to the world.

ASTROVISION Large-Screen Display System

Panasonic provided 25 LED ASTROVISION screens at 18 venues for Beijing 2008. The new high luminance LED-based ASTROVISION screens were much lighter and more energy-efficient than the screens used at Atlanta 1996. The screens displayed countless thrilling scenes throughout the Olympic Games.
RAMSA Professional Audio Systems

Panasonic provided 284 RAMSA sound systems to 41 venues, using speakers designed specifically for large stadiums and capable of delivering high quality sound to every corner of every venue. Such speakers enhanced the emotion and excitement of Beijing 2008 using powerful sound.

Beijing 2008 was the first Olympic Games for which official video footage was produced in an HD format. In addition to DVCPRO HD, P2 HD was used as the official recording format at Beijing 2008, and P2 HD AJ-HPX2100 and 3000 series, the latest full HD compatible equipment, was used. Camera recorders supporting the use of extremely compact and easy-to-use P2 cards as recording medium were also used at venues.
