The DMC-FX35(FX36) is the remarkable slim and sleek compact digital camera with a 25mm wide-angle* f/2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens. Incorporating Panasonic's advanced optical technologies, this lens system is comprised of seven elements in six groups with four aspherical lenses / six aspherical surfaces, including a newly developed unevenly thick concave meniscus Extra High Refractive Index Aspherical lens (EA lens).

7.1x Extra Optical Zoom

The DMC-FX35(FX36) is equipped with a bright 4x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 100mm). The Extra Optical Zoom function uses the center part of the CCD to extend this 4x zoom ratio to powerful 7.1x zoom (35mm equivalent: 178mm) at a resolution of 3-megapixel or less. Adding the Extra Optical Zoom to the 4x digital zoom** extends the total zooming power to a maximum of 28.5x (35mm equivalent: 712mm).
