Answer... [Cause]
Other wireless devices are interfering with the camera's wireless signal, obstacles are interfering with the wireless signal, or the characteristics of the wireless LAN chip differ between the KX-HCM170 and the wireless router.

[Solution]
Download the firmware (version 1.81 or later) and update the KX-HCM170.

Answer... The firmware updating is now in process.
  1. Confirm the indicator.
  2. If the Indicator continues flashing green (HCM1/2) or orange (other models), follow these steps.
    1. Push the refresh button on the browser.
    2. If there is no improvement, input "http://***.***.***.***/cgiBootFiramwareVersionUp" and push the enter key.
    3. If the [Update Firmware] screen is displayed, update the firmware completely in reference to the operating instructions.
  3. If there is no improvement in symptoms, turn the camera off/on, and then try the setup again.
The firmware updating is done a number of times.
  1. Confirm the indicator.
  2. If the Indicator continues flashing green (HCM1/2) or orange (other models), follow these steps.
    1. Input the URL of the [Update Firmware] screen directly and push the enter key.
    2. If there is no improvement, press the FACTORY DEFAULT RESET button to reset the camera and input "http://192.168.0.253".
    3. If you can not access to the [Update Firmware] screen, input "http://***.***.***.***/cgiBootFiramwareVersionUp" and push the enter key.
    4. If the [Update Firmware] screen is displayed, update the firmware completely in reference to the operating instructions.
  3. If there is no improvement in symptoms, turn the camera off/on, and then try the setup again.

Answer... [Cause]
The socket is the old version of Windows95. Therefore the connection between cameras is not correct.

[Solution]
Download the patch file (Ws2setup.exe) from the following URL, and upgrade the socket to the version 2.0.

  • You cannot install IE6.0 on Windows95.
  • Upgrade the socket at your own risk.
  • Refer to the Microsoft's Home Page for the detailed upgrade procedures. Please accept that we cannot support you for this solution.

Answer... When monitoring the subjects in the dark with the color night view mode, the exposure time of the camera's CCD is lengthened.

When the exposure time of the KX-HCM180's CCD is lengthened, the output levels among the pixel vary widely and the white or colored points of light will appear on the full screen.

This is the characteristic features of the CCD with color night view mode, and is not a failure.

Answer... [Cause]
Automatic registration cannot be performed properly if the KX/BB-HCM cameras have been already registered automatically on the other KX-HGW500/501 or it is not initialized correctly.

[Solution]
When adding the KX/BB-HCM camera on the KX-HGW500/501 or making the switch to another KX-HGW500/501, reset the cameras to the factory default settings according to the following procedures.
  1. Press the camera's FACTORY DEFAULT RESET button again after this product has started up.
  2. Wait for the initialization to be complete.
    • Do not remove the power cord in the act of the initialization.
    • When pressing the FACTORY DEFAULT RESET button, all of the buffered images, settings and passwords are removed.

No.6 The network camera that is in the local network is not displayed in the setup program. [Setup: Network] [Troubleshoot: KX_HCM]

Answer... There are two reasons.
  1. When the network camera is on for over 20 minutes, it is impossible to display. If needed, you should restart the network camera.

  2. There is possibility that you didn't check "setting is enable from setup program" on setting page. If you don't know IP-address, you should factory reset the camera.

Answer... If the fixed global IP address is not assigned, it is possible that the global IP address is changed frequently due to the various conditions on the communication pathway.

Even in this situation, the Viewnetcam service transmit the domain name of the camera and the corresponding IP address to the DNS servers on the Internet, but it takes a long time for this information to be reflected in the DNS server due to the various conditions on the Internet.

This is not a trouble on the camera.
You can monitor after (10`30 minutes).

  • ActiveX may not install into the PC. Please try to install it again.

  • Your network traffic may be very heavy. Please wait for a while.

  • Operation Times may be blocking the access. Please check the setting on the camera.
