What does it mean by "assignment of a domain name" [FAQ: Viewnetcam]
(2007/06/29)

Answer... On the Internet, each node is actually identified by a line of figures called an IP address (for example, 211.16.252.37). Network Camera connected to the Internet is also identified by an IP address. As an IP address is a line of figures, it is difficult to remember. To eliminate that problem, the Viewnetcam.com service applies DNS service that translates domain name into corresponding IP address. Domain names and IP addresses (for example, www. bob.viewnetcam.com [Domain name] -> 211.16.252.37 [IP Address]) is cross-refers over the Internet. This is the DNS service. The Viewnetcam.com service provides DDNS service (Dynamic Domain Name System) enables clients and servers to correspond to the dynamic IP address.
