Printer

Many problems associated with the printer can be traced to improper setup or cabling.
The following table will assist you in identifying and correcting some of the more common problems.

The printer does not print.

1. The port specified in driver setting is different from the connected port.
2. In "Printer tab" of PCL6 printer driver, "Print to file" is set to "Prompt for filename" or "Output to file".

1. Please set to the correct port in printer driver setting.
2. Please set "Print to file" to "Output to printer".

The printer prints the characters or graphic patterns which the printing document does not have.

1. Overlay is set.
2. Watermark is set.

1. Please cancel Overlays setting in Overlays tab of PCL6 printer driver.
2. Please cancel Watermarks setting in Watermarks tab of PCL6 printer driver.

When printing with using PCL6 printer driver, the printer prints the bold font as normal font in some cases.

There is a restriction that the printer can not download True type bold font.

In Graphics tab of PCL6 printer driver, please change the True Type Mode from "Download as outline" to "Download as bit image".

In Kanji characters(Chinese characters) printing, the print problem of chipped character occurs.

Due to a restriction in 300dpi resolution.

In Graphics tab of PCL6 printer driver, please change the resolution from "300 dpi" to "600 dpi" or please change the True Type Mode from "Download as outline" to "Download as bit image".

Under Windows 2000 Japan or Windows NT 4.0 Japan/Chinese, if a PDF file is opened with Acrobat Reader 4.05c Japan/Chinese and print with using PCL6 printer driver, the printer prints the garbage characters.

Restriction issue.

In Graphics tab of PCL6 printer driver, please change the True Type Mode from "Download as outline" to "Download as bit image".

When printing one Excel file with specifying "Entire workbook", PCL6 ERROR happen.

There is a restriction in the following case.
If the portrait sheet and landscape sheet are mixed in one Excel file and the same kind of pattern in Format Cells is applied, this error will occur.

Please apply the different kind of pattern at Format Cells for each portrait sheet and landscape sheet, or please print each sheets separately rather than printing by specifying "Entire workbook".

The installer is not launched automatically when the KX-P7500 Series CD-ROM is inserted in the CD-ROM drive.

Autorun is not enabled on your computer.

Please run the installer by double-clicking the CD-ROM drive icon in My Computer, or by double-clicking the Setup.exe file in the KX-P7500 Series CD-ROM.

It is not available to install the Status Display.

OS support restriction.

KX-P7500/KX-P7510 supports the Status Display on Windows 95 / 98, but does not support on Windows NT4.0 and Windows 2000.

I cannot monitor the printer status on the Status Display.

The printer is not connected by centronics cable.

Please connect by centronics cable not by network cable.

When printing with using PS printer driver, the printer prints out many garbage pages.

You printed without PostScript SIMM.

Please install PostScript SIMM(KX-PPSU4) or print with using PCL6 printer driver.

When you print with using IrDA, the printer prints very slowly.

The baud rate is too low.(ex. 9600 bps)

Please set the baud rate to "under 115200" in Windows control panel.
