
Wireless Interactive Plasma Display for iOS
A New Way to GO Wireless
With iPad/iPhone/iPod touch.
Introduction of the Application
This is an application that lets you send PDF files, PowerPoint files, and images saved to an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to a Panasonic display over a wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), and display them. You can send document files transferred from a PC via iTunes to the Documents* folder of this application, and images saved to the Photos* folder of your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
You can also display web pages with the built-in web browser, and photos taken with the built-in camera on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. In addition, the application also lets you rotate the screen, enlarge or reduce the screen with a pinch operation, and flip through pages with a flick operation.
* Files that are saved anywhere other than these locations cannot be displayed.
Also, document files that contain animation, links, embedded motion images or audio, a Slideshow function, word art, comment displays, or that have open passwords, or have been scanned at high resolution cannot be sent.

• A function has been added that lets you designate the display's IP address for searching, register the display, and export/import registration information.

The screen and the marker notes that have been written onto it can be saved as a graphic.
Displayable Content
*1 Displayable document file types are PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, Text, and RichText.
*2 Photos taken with the built-in camera on an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
*3 Consecutively displaying photos from the camera enables use as a simplified form of document camera.
*4 The marker function has been expanded, and a Blackboard mode has been added.
With the image or document open, you can use the marker to write on the blackboard screen. The screen and the marker notes that have been written onto it can be saved as a graphic.

How to Use Panasonic Wireless Display for iOS
Introduction
Note
- Screenshots and operations in this documentation demonstrate the application as used on an iPad.
Although the application is used the same way on an iPod touch or iPhone, some screen layouts and buttons may differ.
- The menus of the display in this documentation use the projector(PT-FW430) as an example.
- For details on how to use or configure your iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone, refer to the appropriate user guide at http://support.apple.com/manuals/.
- For details on how to use or configure the display, as well as precautions on wireless use, refer to your display's "Operating Instruction" or "Network Operation Manual".
- For versions earlier than the iOS 6 version, the application uses location services when accessing images in [Photos] on an iPad.
Location services are not used for purposes other than accessing images in [Photos].
Getting Ready
Preparation 1-A: Connecting the Display and iPad by Wireless LAN (WiFi), Not Via an Access Point
Your iOS devices can be connected to the display through the [M-DIRECT] network. It is recommended that the highly secure M-DIRECT network be used for these models. For details, refer to the "Operating Instruction" of the display.
1) Configure the display's local wireless network settings.
- Display the on-screen menu.
- In [NETWORK] – [WIRELESS LAN], select [M-DIRECT].
2) Join the local wireless network from your iPad.
- On your iPad, tap [Settings] – [Wi-Fi].
- Turn [Wi-Fi] ON. Available networks are shown under [Choose a Network...].
- Tap [M-DIRECT****]("****" is the last 4-digit number of the display ID).
Your device is now connected to the local wireless network by inputting the preset key.
- Select the right-arrow next to [M-DIRECT****] and activate [Auto-Join] in the network details.
Notes
- The display may be difficult for your device to detect if multiple displays are installed nearby.
In this case, follow the instructions in "Tips" in "If Multiple Displays are Installed" to complete the settings.
Preparation 1-B: Connecting the Display and iPad by Wireless LAN (WiFi) Via an Access Point
1) Connect the display to the local wireless network.
- Display the on-screen menu.
- [NETWORK] – [WIRELESS LAN], select a user identification ([USER1] – [USER3])
from Wireless network number [OFF], [S-MAP], [1] – [4], [USER1] – [USER3].
- [MODE], select "INFRASTRUCTURE."
- Complete the settings for your access point in [DHCP], [SSID], [ENCRYPTION], [KEY] and so on.
2) Join the local wireless network from your iPad.
- On your iPad, tap [Settings] – [Wi-Fi].
- Turn [Wi-Fi] ON. Available networks are shown under [Choose a Network...].
- Tap the access point name (SSID) specified in step 1).
Your device is now connected to the local wireless network.
Notes
- If your access point is encrypted, a password input screen is displayed.
- If you do not know the password, ask your network administrator.
Preparation 2: Transferring Document Files to Your iPad
Before the data of a PDF or other document file can be displayed, you must transfer these files from your computer to this application's [Documents] area in iTunes.
Transfer files from your computer as follows.
- Connect your iPad to your computer.
- Start iTunes.
- In the iTunes sidebar, select your device in the source list.
- On the top of the screen, select [Apps].
- In the [File Sharing] – [Apps] list, select [Wireless PJ].
- Click [Add] on the lower right and select the document files to transfer.
- The selected document files will now be transferred as your iPad is synced.
Notes
- The file types that can be transferred to the [Documents] area and displayed are PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, Text, and RichText.
- Transferred files are not added while the document files list is displayed. Close the list and then open it again.
- You can pass document files open in Safari or received as mail attachments to [Documents] for this application.
In Safari or Mail, select [Open in...] and choose [Wireless PJ] in the listed applications.
Using the Application
Usage 1: Connecting by [Find Displays]
On the Home screen, tap the icon for this application: Immediately after startup, the [Display] menu is displayed.

In the [Display] menu, tap [Find Displays] in the [Search & Connect] column.

Tap the display name (ID [****]) of the display to use.

- After the confirmation message is displayed, tap [OK] to connect to the display.
Notes
- To check the display ID ([****]) of the display you will use, press the "INPUT SELECT" button on the display remote control, and then refer to [NETWORK] – [****] on the [INPUT GUIDE] screen.
- Connected displays are labeled with a check mark.
- If a network password has been set for the display, a password input screen is displayed.
- To update the information in [Find Displays], tap [Update].
- Even after you press the Home button, the display connection will be maintained for 10 minutes after you close the application.
Usage 2: Connecting to a Display by Using the [Registered Displays]
You can search for a display by its IP address, register or edit search data, and connect. You can also export/import registered data.
Display registration
- On the Home screen, tap the icon for this application: Immediately after startup, the [Display] menu is displayed.

In the [Display] menu, tap [Registered Displays] in the [Search & Connect] column.

- Select [Displays can be registered...].
Enter the [Registered Name] and [IP Address] in the registration screen, then press [Done].

The registered name will be added to the [Registered Displays] list.

Connecting the display
- Select the registered name for the display to be used from the [Registered Displays] list.
- Select [OK] when the confirmation message appears, and connect the display.
Exporting the [Registered Displays] list
The [Registered Displays] list can be stored.
- Select [Export...] in the [Registered Displays] menu.
Enter any desired name into the File Name Input dialog, then select [OK].

Importing the [Registered Displays] list
- Select [Import...] in the [Registered Displays] menu.
Choose the file to be imported from the displayed list, then select [OK].
Select [OK] for the Import Success dialog, then return to the [Registered Displays] menu.
The imported list will be displayed.

Editing the [Registered Displays] list or imported list
- Select [Edit] in the [Registered Displays] menu.
You can do the following operations at the edit screen.
- Delete registered Displays
- Change the sequence of the registered displays list
- Select the
mark next to the display name to enable editing.
- Select [Edit] for the import file list.
You can do the following operations at the edit screen.
- Delete imported files.
Notes
- To confirm the IP address of your display, refer to your display's "Operating Instruction" or "Network Operation Manual".
- If a network password is set for the display, the password input screen will be displayed.
- The exported registration data will be saved as xml data in the [Documents] area.
- You can enter up to 16 characters for registered names.
- You can enter up to 16 characters for file names and the characters listed below cannot be used.

Usage 3: Displaying Images
- In the top menu of this application, tap
.
- Tap the album containing images to display. A list of thumbnails is displayed.
Tap an image to display. The selected image is displayed from the display.
You can access the previous or next image by tapping
or
.
To select images in other albums, tap
.

Other Operations
- You can also access the previous or next image by flicking right or left on the screen.
- You can zoom in or out on portions of images by pinching on the screen.
- To pan zoomed images, drag them.
- To restore the initial image size, double-tap the screen.
- Tapping
will start a slideshow, and tapping
will stop it. To adjust how long each photo is shown during slideshows, change the setting in [Settings] – [Wireless PJ] – [Show Each Photo For] on the iOS.
- You can display or save lines drawn freehand simply by drawing lines on the screen as desired.

- You can set the toolbar to display or not display by simply tapping the display screen.
Returning to the Top Menu
To return to the top menu, tap [Back].
Notes
- Photos in slideshows are shown in the order in which they are listed in the folder where the selected images are stored.
- After the last photo in a slideshow is shown, as listed in [Photo Albums], the first photo is shown again.
- The background color of images can be changed as follows. Select [Settings] – [Wireless PJ] – [Background Color] on the iOS, and then select the desired background color.
- The displayed image can be set to be saved or not saved when the image screen is closed.
Change the ON/OFF for the iOS [Settings] – [Wireless PJ] – [Keep Display].
Usage 4: Displaying Documents
- In the top menu of this application, tap
. The document file list is displayed.
Tap a document to display. The selected document is displayed from the display.

Other Operations (Some operations are not supported depending on the type of document file)
- You can also display the previous or next page by selecting
or
on the toolbar, or flicking right or left on the screen.
- By inputting a page number into the [page number] in the toolbar, you can jump to that page.
- You can zoom in or out on portions of pages by pinching on the screen.
- To pan zoomed pages, drag them.
- To restore the initial page size, double-tap the screen.
- You can display or save lines drawn freehand simply by drawing lines on the screen as desired.

- You can delete files by selecting [Edit] next to the document file list.
- You can set the toolbar to display or not display by simply tapping the display screen.
Returning to the Top Menu
To return to the top menu, tap [Back].
Notes

Usage 5: Displaying Web Pages
In the top menu of this application, tap
. A browser is displayed in the application.

- In the address field, enter the address of the page to display.
The web page for the designated address is displayed, and the data is sent to the display.
Other Operations
- To access and display the previous or next web page, tap
or
.
- To browse and display linked pages, tap links on the current page in the browser.
- To access a list of bookmarks, tap
.
The following operations are possible when this window is open.
- Bookmark addresses of current pages
- Open selected bookmarks
- Delete bookmarks
- View bookmark details (page titles, URLs)
- To stop the web page currently loading, tap
.
- To reload the current web page, tap
.
- You can display or save lines drawn freehand simply by drawing lines on the screen as desired.

- You can set the toolbar to display or not display by simply tapping the display screen.
Returning to the Top Menu
To return to the top menu, tap [Back].
Notes
- Some web page content such as videos cannot be displayed by the browser or displayed.
- The displayed image can be set to be saved or not saved when the image screen is closed.
Change the ON/OFF for the iOS [Settings] – [Wireless PJ] – [Keep Display].
Usage 6: Displaying Photos from the Camera (Camera-Equipped Devices Only)
In the top menu of this application, tap
. A live camera feed is displayed.

- Tap
. A preview shot is displayed.
- To display this image, tap [Use]. To shoot again, tap [Retake].
Once the image is sent, it becomes an image screen and can be used in the same way as an image.
For details, see "Usage 3: Displaying Images."
Other Operations
- You can specify whether to add shots to the Camera Roll by accessing [Settings] – [Wireless PJ] – [Keep Photo] on iOS.
- You can also specify to use the main or front camera, change the focus area, and zoom in or out when using this camera function.
- You can use a finger to draw freehand on the captured image, and then display or save the generated image.

Returning to the Top Menu
To return to the top menu when using the camera function, tap [Cancel].
Usage 7: Motion Capture Display (Camera-Equipped Devices Only)
In the top menu of this application, tap
. Photos from the camera are displayed consecutively.

Other Operations
- You can also specify to use the main or front camera and switch between high image quality and lower image quality while displaying motion capture.
- You can select [Pause] to pause the motion capture display, and display the image as a still image.
- With the iPhone, you can turn on the built-in LED light.
Returning to the Top Menu
To return to the top menu while displaying a motion capture, tap [Cancel].
Usage 8: Using the Marker Function
By drawing freehand with your finger, you can display the lines you draw on images, PDF files, or web pages.
You can draw freehand lines (marker) onto image files, document files, or web pages, and send the data as is.
Also, with the image or document open, you can use the marker on the blackboard screen.
- In the application, the image, camera-captured image, document file, or web page is displayed.
- In the toolbar, tap
. The marker settings window is displayed.
- In the marker settings window, specify the Stroke Color, Transparency, Line Width, Eraser Width, and Blackboard Color.
- In the settings window tap [Start Marker].
The settings window is now closed, and
color is updated to your selected line color.
- With your finger, draw lines on the screen as desired.
- When you lift your finger from the screen, the line you drew is displayed.
When
is selected in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, a blackboard with the designated color will be displayed. (Marker data is erased.) To close the blackboard screen, select
again.

Other Operations
Marker functions are readily accessible in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

At first startup, buttons for
,
, and
are shown in red, green, and blue, respectively.
As you continue using the application, the button colors are updated with colors selected in [Line Color] in the marker settings window. With each button, you can specify the Stroke Color, Transparency, and Line Width while marking.
Marking begins in the color of the button you tap.
Lines can be erased by selecting
. To erase a line drawn with the marker, trace the line.
- You can save screens or blackboard screens with marker data written on them as images.
Select
from the toolbar. You can select the saved screen from
and display it again.
Erasing Data Written on the Blackboard Screen with the Marker
To erase all of the marker data written on the blackboard, select
from the toolbar at the bottom.
Exiting Marking
When you are finished marking, select
from the toolbar at the bottom or access the marker settings window and tap [Stop Marker].
Notes
- Once you exit marking, the marks and blackboard screen you made up to that point are removed.
- You can remove previous marks or blackboard screens by rotating the iPad. To prevent rotation, use the iPad's [Lock Rotation] function.
- You can also adjust the Stroke Color, Transparency, Line Width, Eraser Width, and Blackboard Color while marking.
Usage 9: Displaying with Multi-Live mode
Multi-Live mode makes it possible for several people to display images from their iPads simultaneously.
This is handy for meetings attended by participants using a multiple number of iPads.
Multi-Live mode offers Four-Window Multi Style, Four-Window Index Style, and 16-Window Index Style displays.
This application lets you switch the full-screen display setting and change the display position for the Four-Window Multi Style display.
Four-Window Index Style and 16-Window Index Style can be switched by using the display menu.

Four-Window Multi Style
The screens from up to four iPads can be simultaneously displayed.

Four-Window Index Style
The screens from up to four iPads can be displayed in thumbnail form, and a selected iPad screen can be switched to a full screen display.

16-Window Index Style
The screens from up to sixteen iPads can be displayed in thumbnail form, and a selected iPad screen can be switched to a full screen display.
Setting the Sender's Name
- Select
– [Sender Name] in the top menu of this application.
- Input the sender's name in a dialog box and click the [OK] button.
(You can enter up to 8 one-byte alphabet characters and numbers.)
The sender's name is displayed on the images displayed with Multi-Live mode.

Select the Display Position
- Select
– [Position of display] in the top menu of this application.
Select where on the index screen (sub screen) the image is to be displayed.

- The position set as the display position is displayed. When displaying with Multi-Live mode, the image is displayed at the set position.
Notes
- Select [Multi-Live] – [Network] in the display's on-screen menu, and then switch to Multi-Live mode.
- When the display starts up, it resumes in the same style that was used the last time the display was turned off.
- To exit Multi-Live mode, first select the 4-screen multi style, and then press the [Full Screen] button.
- If five or more iOS devices have been connected in the 16-screen index style, communication with the fifth and subsequent iOS will be cut off when the mode is switched to the 4-screen multi style.
- The Multi-Live style cannot be switched during full-screen display from the display.
Usage 10: Using the Web Browser Control Function
The display can be controlled via Web browser control.

Select
– [Display in Use] – [Disconnect] in the top menu of this application.

Select [WEB Control].

-
Enter your “User name” and “Password” set in the display for authentication.
The “Display control” page is displayed, and the display can be controlled via Web browser control.

Notes
- For details on Web browser control function, refer to your display's "Operating Instruction" or "Network Operation Manual".
- The Web browser control screen may differ depending on the model.
- Use either of the following operations to return to the application:
- Double click the Home button to get to the multi-task bar, and then select the icon for this application.
- Click the Home button and close the browser, and then select the icon for this application in the Home Screen.
- For Crestron RoomView™ compatible devices:
Because iPad does not support Adobe Flash, Crestron RoomView™ pages cannot be displayed.
Usage 11: Disconnecting from the Display / Quitting the Application
Disconnecting from the Display
Either select
– [Display in Use] – [Disconnect] in the top menu of this application, or select the display ID of a connected display (labeled with a check mark) in
– [Find Displays].

Quitting the Application
Press the Home button on your iPad. The application now closes.
Tips
When Multiple Users Display Images
- When multiple users will take turns displaying images, access the display's on-screen menu and set [NETWORK] – [LIVE MODE CUT IN] to [ON].
- To prevent other users from interrupting operation, select [OFF] in this setting.
If Multiple Displays are Installed
- If you attempt to connect your device directly to the display (not via an access point), the display may be difficult for your device to detect if multiple displays are installed nearby. In this case, do the following to complete the settings for network usage ([USER1] – [USER 3]).
1) Configure the display's local wireless network settings.
- Display the on-screen menu.
- In [NETWORK] – [WIRELESS LAN], select a user identification ([USER1] – [USER3]).
- Change [SSID] to a name of your choice.
- Set [MODE] to [AD HOC].
- Set [DHCP] to [OFF].
- Modify [ENCRYPTION], [KEY], and so on.
2) Join the local wireless network from your iPad.
- On your iPad, tap [Settings] – [Wi-Fi].
- Turn [Wi-Fi] ON.
Available networks are shown under [Choose a Network...].
- Tap the access point name (SSID) specified in step 1).
Your device is now connected to the local wireless network.
When [ENCRYPTION] is set to [WEP], a password input screen is displayed.
- Tap the right-arrow next to the SSID (access point name) specified in step 1),and then activate [Auto-Join] in the network details.
