Pursuing energy-saving appliances
Panasonic is working to bring about dramatic reductions in the energy used by everyday household appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and lights. The CO2 emissions of Panasonic's 201X product range (97 appliances) will be reduced by 35% compared with our 1990 product range (78 appliances).
High luminous efficiency
There are 3 main steps in plasma luminescence:
- Electrical discharge generates UV rays.
- UV rays generate fluorescence in phosphors.
- Reproduces image on display panel.
Our newly developed “Full Black Panel” achieves higher efficiency in all three steps. Our NeoPDP technologies achieve twice the luminous efficiency of our 2009 model (4 times that of the 2007 model), providing both a higher quality picture as well as energy savings.
Energy-Saving LED Lighting
Lighting accounts for approximately 16%*1 of CO2 emissions in any home. Using high-efficiency, low-energy LEDs and our independently developed heat dissipation technologies, Panasonic has achieved energy savings, cheaper electricity bills and long bulb life*2.

Vacuum insulation material, “U-Vacua”
After more than 20 years of research and development into insulation materials, beginning in 1982 Panasonic has succeeded in creating “U-Vacua,” a new vacuum insulation material that replaces traditional urethane foam. In October 2002 U-Vacua for use in refrigerators was perfected after more than 6,000 trials and tests over the period of a year. Refrigerators with U-Vacua are approximately 40% more energy efficient than the pre-U-Vacua 2001 models and approximately 83% more than those released 10 years ago.
Panasonic is now utilizing this new vacuum insulation material in home construction to greatly improve insulation efficiency.
ECO NAVI Home Appliances
Smart ECO NAVI Home Appliances
These smart refrigerators are super eco-friendly with temperature and light sensors able to detect a door or drawer opening or closing, household sleeping times and changes in external light or brightness, and automatically switches to energy saving mode in darkness. Even when the door is repeatedly opened and closed, the smart technology ensures constant temperature control and no energy waste when not in use.
The compact design of the eco heat pump engine allows it to be placed directly above the drum, minimizing airflow distance, resulting in energy savings.
Equipped with sensors that can detect where people are, the airflow robot automatically changes the airflow direction. The unit automatically turns off when no one is in the room.
