LAN

Application and Driver
1. I cannot recognize the last part of an item in the list of the [One Touch], [Directory], [Journal] or [Caller ID] when using Remote Control.
2. I cannot scan.
3. Even after clicking [Cancel], scanning continues.
4. I cannot find the unit as the target device from the list when using PC FAX and Remote Control.
5. A printing error occurred while using PC FAX and Remote Control.
6. The fax sending from the computer has been completed, but the other party cannot receive the document.
7. Colored text is printed in black instead of grayscale when printing from Microsoft PowerPoint or other applications.
8. When I install Multi-Function Station for KX-FLM651 and scan the document by Readiris 5.5, I can not see KX-FLM651 in the ""TYPE"" on the ""SCANNER"" setting. Is there any problem?
9. When you print the heading and all subtopics from Help Application, the characters and images in Web LINK PAGE may not be printed out properly.
10. When printing the Black&White monochrome image from Corel Photo Paint, nothing is printed like the blank paper. How do I solve it?
11. "Remote Conrtol" feature through LAN does not work.
12. "Push Scan"" feature through LAN does not work.
13. When using the unit in LAN environment, the IP address of some PCs do not appear on the unit, or the IP address disappear after certain time passed.
14. When using the unit in LAN environment, the IP address of my PC does not appear on the unit.
15. When clicking "PCFAX" feature in Lancher on WindowsXP, "Database error" shows and PCFAX does not start.
16. When sending over 100MB Adobe Acrobat(PDF) file via PCFAX on Windows2000, the FAX communication fails and all PCFAX sendings fail after that. How can I solve it?
 

General

1. I cannot install / uninstall Multi-Function Station.
  • Some of the files needed to install or uninstall Multi-Function Station may be corrupted. Use the MfsCleaner utility (found on the included CD-ROM) to solve the problem.
    1. Insert the included CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
    - The setup program will start automatically.
    2. Click [Cancel], then click [Yes] to quit the setup.
    3. Open the folder "D:\Tools\Uninstall" (Where "D:" is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive).
    4. Double-click the [MfsCleaner] icon.
    - The [MfsCleaner for KX-FLB800/FLM650 Series] window will appear.
    5. Click [Clean], then click [Yes] to restart the computer.
2. Multi-Function Station does not work properly.
  • Check that the unit is ON.
  • Check the connection between your unit and PC is properly installed.
  • If you connect the USB cable to USB hub, connect it to the USB port of your computer directly.
  • If you have any other Multi-Function software installed on your computer, uninstall it.
  • Check that your PC has enough memory and hard disk space. If your computer warns of insufficient memory, close other applications. If there is not enough space on the hard disk, delete unnecessary files.
    Ex.
    - Delete unnecessary files on the hard disk.
    - Close unnecessary applications on the screen.
  • Make sure you have installed the latest Service Pack available for the version of Windows installed on your computer. See the Microsoft web site for details.
  • Confirm the BIOS setting of your computer, and select USB port mode. Please refer to your computer's operating instructions or consult the manufacturer.
     
3. When I switched user by using "Fast User Switching" of Windows XP, the function does not work properly.
  • The operation simultaneously by multiple users in using "Fast User Switching" ([Switch User] button) is not supported. Please log in the new user after log off the current user.
USB

1. I want to connect more than 2 units to one PC by using USB-HUB or by using several USB connectors on the PC.
  • Unplug the unused unit and add the printer driver by one of the following ways.
    - Select [Add Printer Driver] from [Programs] -> [Panasonic] -> [KX-FLB800_FLM650 Series].
    - Use CD-ROM to add the printer driver.
    Note:
    You can connect them simultaneously but can not use at the same time. 
2. When I connect the different unit to my PC, PC shows "New Hardware Wizard". How do I do?
  • Click "Cancel" on "New Hardware Wizard" and add the printer driver by one of the following ways.
    - Select [Add Printer Driver] from [Programs] -> [Panasonic] -> [KX-FLB800_FLM650 Series].
    - Use CD-ROM to add the printer driver. 
3. PC can not recognize the unit when installing Multi-Function Station.
  • The USB cable may be long.
    Change the USB cable to shorter than 2 meters(6.5 feet).
4. Before inserting the CD-ROM to install Multi-Function Station, I connect my PC to the unit. Then PC shows "New Hardware Wizard". How do I do?
  • Click "Cancel" on "New Hardware Wizard" and add the printer driver by one of the following ways.
    - Select [Add Printer Driver] from [Programs] -> [Panasonic] -> [KX-FLB800_FLM650 Series].
    - Use CD-ROM to add the printer driver.

LAN

1. How can I use more than 2 series models on the same LAN?
  • - Select [Add Printer Driver] from [Programs] -> [Panasonic] -> [KX-FLB800_FLM650 Series].
    - Use CD-ROM to add the printer driver.
    Note: Each unit needs its unique driver. 
2. I cannot operate following functions.
- PC printing
- PC scan
- PC FAX
- Remote Control
- Device Monitor
  • Confirm the LED via the LAN port of the LAN board. If the LED is glowing in green or blinking yellow, the network access is working correctly.
    - Green LED on: The LAN board is linked to the computer on the LAN.
    - Yellow LED blinking: The LAN board is communicating with the computer on the LAN.
    If the LED is not glowing or blinking, follow the solutions below to solve the problem.
  • The IP address of the fax unit may have changed. To detect the IP address, proceed as follows.
    Click [Start], then select [All Programs] or [Programs] -> [Panasonic] ->
    [KX-FLB800_FLM650 Series] -> [IP Address Checker]. The IP address for the fax unit will be detected.

    Note:
    If the IP address cannot be detected, enter it manually (feature #501). The IP address of the computer and the fax unit must be in the same local IP address class as shown below. Set the IP address in the range of the number specified in the class corresponding to you local network scale.
  • Class Subnet mask IP address

    *1 :
    "xx" should be the same value for the fax unit and for the
    computer, as shown in the following example.
    Example: 172.16.0.1 - 172.16.255.254
    (The available range of "xx" is 16 - 31)
    *2 :
    "xx" should be the same value for the fax unit and for the
    computer, as shown in the following example.
    Example: 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.254
    (The available range of "xx" is 0 - 255)
  • Your firewall software is blocking the connection. Disable the firewall software or change the firewall setting to work Multi-Function Station properly.
3. I cannot enter the following feature code in the fax unit.
- #443 / #490 / #491 / #492 / #500 / #501 / #502 / #503 / #507
  • Make sure the LAN board has been attached correctly. 
4. I cannot find the fax unit in the [Target Device] or [Device Select] dialog box when operating the following functions.
- PC scan
- Remote Control
- PC FAX
- Device Monitor
  • The printer driver has not been installed. Install it on your computer. 
5. The name of the desired computer will not be displayed on the fax unit when scanning documents from the fax unit.
  • The printer driver has not been installed. Install it on your computer.
  • The PC name list up feature has been set to [Off]. Set to [On] in the [Network Scan Setup].
  • The maximum number of the computers on the LAN is connected to the fax unit (up to 32 computers). Set the PC name list up feature to [Off] on the other computers.
  • The IP address of the fax unit may have changed. To detect the IP address, proceed as follows.
     
    1. Click [Start], then select [All Programs] or [Programs] -> [Panasonic]
        -> [KX-FLB800_FLM650 Series] -> [IP Address Checker].
     
    The IP address for the fax unit will be detected. 
6. I cannot change the features in Remote Control.
  • You need to assign a computer as ADMIN PC beforehand (feature #443).
7. I cannot receive a fax document to the computer.
  • Make sure the following features are set beforehand.
    - PC fax reception (feature #442)
    - Computer setting for the PC fax reception (feature #443)

8. The fax unit does not appear in the [Select a Network Device] dialog box when installing Multi-Function Station.
  • Your firewall software is blocking the connection and the setup program may not list any fax units. Consult your network administrator and temporarily disable the firewall software.
 
9. The [Windows Security Alert] dialog box appeared and asks if you want to block [PCCMFLPD] and I cannot operate the following functions after installing the Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
- PC printing
- PC scan
- Remote Control
- PC FAX
- Device Monitor
  • Click [Keep Blocking] and run the Windows Firewall Setting Tool to allow the data transmission for Multi-Function Station.
 

Application and Driver

 
1. I cannot recognize the last part of an item in the list of the [One Touch], [Directory], [Journal] or [Caller ID] when using Remote Control.
  • Put the cursor on the line between the buttons. The cursor changes shape and you can expand the area by dragging or double-clicking.
2. I cannot scan.
  • When scanning at a high resolution, a large amount of available memory is required. If your computer warns of insufficient memory, close other applications and try again.
  • The unit is in use. Try again later.
  • There is not enough space on the hard disk. Delete unnecessary files and try again.
  • Restart the computer, and try again.
  • Check the connection between the computer and the unit (page47).
  • You attempted to scan a document longer than the paper size which you set. Change the setting or divide the document into the appropriate paper size, and try again.
  • If you use the Fast User Switching feature in Windows XP, make sure no other users are logged in to your computer. 
3. Even after clicking [Cancel], scanning continues.
  • Please wait. It may take a while for the cancel request to be accepted. 
4. I cannot find the unit as the target device from the list when using PC FAX and Remote Control.
  • The unit will be displayed after the printer driver has been installed.
5. A printing error occurred while using PC FAX and Remote Control.
  • The printer driver is used for PC FAX and Remote Control. The transmission error will be displayed as the printing error. 
6. The fax sending from the computer has been completed, but the other party cannot receive the document.
  • The transmission error may be occurred in the unit. Check the confirmation report in the journal from Remote Control. 
7. Colored text is printed in black instead of grayscale when printing from Microsoft PowerPoint or other applications.
  • Select [Color] or remove the check next to [Grayscale] in the print dialog so that colored text will be printed in grayscale. 
8. When I install Multi-Function Station for KX-FLM651 and scan the document by Readiris 5.5, I can not see KX-FLM651 in the ""TYPE"" on the ""SCANNER"" setting. Is there any problem?
  • Nothing is wrong. Please use [Twain Panasonic KX-FLM551].
    Note:
    "TYPE" setting is the selection of profile information. Since KX-FLM651 uses the same profile information for KX-FLM551, there is no specific selection for KX-FLM651. 
9. When you print the heading and all subtopics from Help Application, the characters and images in Web LINK PAGE may not be printed out properly.
  • After displaying Web LINK PAGE once, print only the page again.
10. When printing the Black&White monochrome image from Corel Photo Paint, nothing is printed like the blank paper. How do I solve it?
  • Change the following setting on Corel Photo Paint before printing.
    - Select "Options" in "Tools"menu of Corel Photo Paint.
    - Select "DriverCompatibility" by clicking "Grobal" -> "Printing" -> "DriverCompatibility".
    - Select KX-FL series printer driver and check "Output bitmaps in 64k chunks" box to ON.
    Save the above setting and start printing.

11. "Remote Control" feature through LAN does not work.
  • If you use "Firewall" feature, turn it OFF.
    If you still have any problem, contact your network administrator.
12. "Push Scan"" feature through LAN does not work.
  • If you use "Firewall" feature, turn it OFF.
  • Confirm the Loop Back Adapter is not equipped in LAN. If equipped, remove it of change the priority down.
  • If you still have any problem, contact your network administrator.
 
13. When using the unit in LAN environment, the IP address of some PCs do not appear on the unit, or the IP address disappear after certain time passed.
  • If you use "Firewall" feature, turn it OFF.
    If you still have any problem, contact your network administrator. 

14. When using the unit in LAN environment, the IP address of my PC does not appear on the unit.
  • The unit can hold up to 32 PCs as the PC Scanner clients. If the number of PCs reaches to 32, turn the unused PC off. Then, open [Setup] -> [Network Scan Setup] in Launcher and try listing up in [PC name list up on devices] to reentry your PC on the unit. 
15. When clicking "PCFAX" feature in Launcher on WindowsXP, "Database error" shows and PCFAX does not start.
  • When the file system is NTFS and your user permission is "Limited" or "User" level, you need to change your permission level to "Power User" or above, or give the write permission to "Program Files" folder by changing the folder properly. Contact your system administrator for the details. 
16. When sending over 100MB Adobe Acrobat(PDF) file via PCFAX on Windows2000, the FAX communication fails and all PCFAX sendings fail after that. How can I solve it?
  • Restart Windows2000. In order to solve this problem, obtain the latest "Service pack" for Windows2000 and install it.
  • Otherwise, divide the large size of file to up to 2MB per file. PCFAX has a size restriction of sending file at a time.
