Many problems associated with the printer can be traced to improper setup or cabling.
The following table will assist you in identifying and correcting some of the more common problems.

Abnormal transfer corona current

Solution

Replace the transfer corona.
Contact the store from which the unit was purchased.

Symptom

Horizontal faint grey stripe(s) appear on the printout

Possible Cause

The Process Unit was exposed to light for more than 5 minutes, or to direct sunlight

Solution

These stripes will automatically disappear after a few hours.

Symptom

Paper jams occur continually

Possible Cause

The paper size selected through the GDI Mode, PCL Mode, or Control Panel and software application are different from the installed paper size

Solution

Select the correct paper size through the GDI Mode or PCL Mode, or Control Panel and application.

Symptom

After removing the jammed paper, the ERROR indicator still blinks

Possible Cause

Paper fragment(s) remains in the printer

Solution

figureMove the sensor lever to the upright position by using an object like a ball point pen.
The remaining fragment(s) will be ejected.

Symptom

Ejected paper is caught between the paper support and the output tray

Possible Cause

There is a space between the output tray and the paper support

Solution

figureSlide the paper support down, then extend it again to remove the space.

Symptom

Paper jam has occurred

Possible Cause

Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
If stains appear on the back of the printed paper after a paper jam is cleared, it is recommended that you run Several test prints.
For Windows users: / For DOS users:

Symptom

Print out is raggedy

Possible Cause

Screen fonts may be selected

Solution

Replace the screen fonts with TrueType fonts.
To show only TrueType fonts in applications, follow the procedure below.

  • 1.Double click the MAIN icon in the Program Manager.
  • 2.Double click the Control Panel icon.
  • 3.Double click the Fonts icon.
  • 4.Click TrueType.
  • 5.Select "Show Only True Type Fonts in Applications", and click OK to exit the TrueType dialog box."
