When you connect the scanner through SCSI, no special device driver is required. When you start Windows for the first time after connecting a scanner, Windows will report that it has detected "New Hardware", and lists three options for installing a new driver. Click on the button that says; "Do not install a driver." Panasonic KV-S or KV-SS series SCSI fscanners require only the ASPI driver or manager for your SCSI controller to be loaded in order to operate under Windows. They do not require any additional system drivers.
When you connect the scanner through USB, STI driver is required. For more details, please refer to here.

"ASPI drivers" for your SCSI controller are required when using the bundled software of Panasonic High Speed SCSI Scanners.
On Windows 95/98/Me, ASPI drivers are pre-installed in Windows system, however, on Windows NT/2000/XP, ASPI drivers are not pre-installed.
If you use Adaptec SCSI controller, you can get ASPI drivers from Adaptec WEB site .

Check the Panasonic scanner and SCSI termination of the SCSI device.
NOTE !! : The following listed models, their termination function do not work properly while scanner power is off. If these models are the end of SCSI devices and with no SCSI terminator on the back side SCSI connector, confirm scanner power is on and termination is enable.

KV-SS905C, KV-S2065W/L, KV-S2055W/L, KV-S6050W/6055W, KV-S6040W/6045W

It's an interface to scan a static image and available on Windows OS after Windows 98. You don't need ASPI when you use STI.
There is no difference on performance between STI and ASPI. But when you scan with USB interface, STI is a must.
Only KV-S3105C, KV-S3085, KV-S7075C, KV-S7065C, KV-S3065CW/L, KV-S2048C, KV-S2046C, KV-S2028C, KV-S2026C, KV-S1065C, KV-S1046C, KV-S1045C, KV-S1026C, KV-S1025C, KV-S1020C and KV-S1015C among Panasonic scanners are available for STI. Others require the ASPI.
The STI driver(Device driver) for scanners is required when using the STI. Please install the driver file according to the installation manual bundled with scanners since it's in the CD-ROM bundled with scanners.

Panasonic Document Scanner Device Driver cannot be installed to Window XP with normal installation steps.
Because Windows XP does not support SHA-2 code signing and the installer does not work properly.
The following steps are required to use the scanner on Windows XP.

1. Install software from CD-ROM or downloaded file without connecting scanner.

2. Connect scanner with USB cable.
     Plug & Play is executed, and [Found New Hardware Wizard] dialog is displayed.

3. Select [Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)] and click [Next] button.

4. Disable [Search removable media] and enable [Include this location in the search].

5. Click [Browse] button and select following folder.
    C:\Program Files\Panasonic\Panasonic Document Scanner Device Driver

6. Click [Next] button.

7. The [Hardware Installation] dialog will be displayed on the way, click [Continue Anyway] button.

8. When the installation is completed, click [Finish] button.

Because your operation system does not support SHA-2 code signing, so the installer signing cannot be verified properly.
Click [Install this driver software anyway].

To ensure optimal scanning performance, the paper feed rollers should be cleaned once a week or when 20,000 sheets or more are fed into the unit. In an environment where NCR paper is used, it is recommended that the paper feed rollers are cleaned on a daily basis. Treated papers, like NCR paper, contain chemicals that cause rollers to deteriorate at an accelerated rate, requiring roller replacement much sooner than scheduled. A good daily cleaning of the paper feed rollers with isopropyl alcohol will help to prolong the life of the rollers in this harsh environment.

Document double feeding may be caused by dirty rollers. Just like your car, your scanner needs routine maintenance. Regular cleaning and maintenance of your scanner will protect your investment, maximize scanner performance, and provide you with the best insurance against costly downtime. Please refer to your operation manual for instructions on cleaning your scanner.

Having paper dust collect on or near the CCD or CIS can cause a line to appear on the digitized image. To remove this line, you will need to clean the rollers and the lens. Also, using compressed air will blow away any loose particulars such as paper shavings or paper dust.

The following chart is document tray capacity of 64 g/m²(17 lbs.) A4/letter paper.

• Cleaning : Wipe ink-flow point softly with tissue every end of the day or at any time of faint characters and ink leakage are found. See #3 Recovery.
• Place : Remove ink cartridge from printer and keep in horizontal place if it's not used over one week.
• Recovery.

To get dropout color chart of each Scanner, please contact your Panasonic agent.

This software displays only English characters.
If you use the OS of other language version except for English version, the last part of some character strings may disappear.
There is no problem with software itself.

Please check the following.
"Scanner Terminal Computer" is turned on, and also does not go to System standby or Hibernation or Sleep.

Please uninstall "Scanner Share Tool" from the computer with the error message and then reinstall it.

Please uninstall the Device Driver (STI driver) from the computer connected with the scanner and then reinstall it.
Please refer to How to reinstall Device Driver (STI driver) for the reinstallation.

Do you restart your computer after the upgrade?
While installing, if a restart message is displayed, please be sure to restart your computer.

When using Windows 8, please be sure to restart your computer not to shut down.

• * When you shut down your computer after setting "Turn on fast startup(recommended)" on
  Windows 8, the installed files are not updated by power-on after shutdown.
  Please make sure of the shutdown settings as below.
  Control Panel -> System and Security -> Power Options ->

It may be happened according to the paper type, size or material.
Then the double feed may be occurred due to the dirt of the rollers and the static electricity of the documents.
1- Clean the rollers and fan the documents.
2- Reduce the documents on the feed tray.
3- Check the box of "Reduce Operation Noise When Feeding Documents" at "Maintenance setting"
   in User Utility.

An efficient management of scanners via network can be realized by Site Central Manager Suite. An administrator can manage the status and unit information of each scanner in block, then maintain them easily. Moreover, software and settings of each scanner can be updated in block and you can save time to maintain them.

When installing with CD-ROM first, you need to install Site Central Manager Agent and device driver to Agent computer (client computer), and connect it to a scanner. After that TWAIN driver, ISIS driver and ICP can be installed using update module function. When installing first with the installer downloaded from the website, the installation can not be done automatically with the update module function. So install the software to all Agent computer manually.

The installation of Site Central Manager Console and Site Central Manager Module Creator to an administrator's computer, Site Central Manager Server to a computer for central control, Site Central Manager Agent to a computer attached to a scanner is required.

When using the functions of Site Central Manager Suit fully, a computer running Windows Server is required.

Use Desktop mode on Windows 8 because only Desktop mode can be supported.

The number of Site Central Manager Suit is up to 1000 scanners.

The Site Central Manager Suite can not be supported via internet and use it in a intranet.

Change security settings in Internet Explorer 11.
1. Open "Internet options" in Tools.
2. Select "Security" tab.
3. Click "Local intranet".
4. Click "Default Level" in "Security level for this zone" is not default.
5. Click "Sites".
6. Click "Advanced".
7. Add SCM Server address in "Websites" field.
8. Click "Close", "OK" and "OK".

Update Site Central Manager Server and Site Central Manager Agent to version 1.2.0.6 or later.

When scanning documents with a carrier sheet, operate as below.
1. Set the manual feed selector to manual scanning (Manual).
2. Put the passport in a carrier sheet.
   Open the passport to the page you want to scan, and then put the thinner part (the opened half with less pages) in the carrier sheet first. The corner of the thinner part of the passport should be inserted into the corner of the carrier sheet.
3. Place the carrier sheet on the feed tray with the surface to be scanned facing down.
   Adjust the document guides to the size of the carrier sheet to be scanned.
4. Insert the carrier sheet until it stops.
   Make sure to insert the documents until they come into contact with the paper feed roller.

When scanning documents with a carrier sheet, operate as below.
1. Put the document in a carrier sheet.
2. Set the paper path selector to Straight path (rear exit).
3. Set the manual feed selector to Manual feeding.
4. Place the carrier sheet on the feed tray with the surface to be scanned facing up.

The functions below are not supported when using a carrier sheet.
Automatic Crop, Deskew, Border Removal, Hole Removal, Automatic mode, Blank Page Removal, Smooth Background, Background Removal and White Level From Paper.

When scanning with a fixed paper size, the background of the edges of documents may seem to be black background depending on documents.

1. When selecting a fixed paper size, use Border Removal.

You may not be able to use domain accounts other than those signed in to Windows depending on your Active Directory configuration. If you want to use multiple domain accounts, please sign in to Windows as a local account of your computer.

Please update Image Capture Plus to Ver.3.16.0.5 or higher. And set the default web-browser application to Edge, Chrome or Firefox in the Windows OS.

There may be following cases that the scanner connected with USB cable is not recognized by application.
#1:The scanner is connected after PC is booted.
#2:After PC is woken up from the sleep mode.
#3:When 2(or more) scanner is connecting PC, one scanner is rebooting (power off and on).

The cause is the problem in Windows 11 version 21H2 OS.
Microsoft released the update for this issue.
Windows 11 version 22H2 does not have this issue.

[Countermeasure]
Please update Windows 11 to version 22H2 or later.
If you cannot update to version 22H2, please apply Windows Update KB5018418 (Oct. 2022 Update).

You can confirm the version of Windows 11 by following steps.
[Start] -> (Right Click) -> [Settings] -> [System] -> [About]
