Immersive Dome Projection is a First for the Malaysian Retail Market, Delighting Visitors to Pavilion Bukit Jalil
Across five floors and 1.8 million square feet of retail space, visitors to Pavilion Bukit Jalil enjoy a world-class retailtainment experience. The mall’s atrium dome was chosen as a canvas for a spellbinding projection show to enliven the atmosphere during the festive season and beyond. Panasonic was engaged as a technology partner thanks to its expertise with large-scale projection mapping and ability to contribute to any development phase, from ideation and spatial design to O&M support. “Looking back to large events such as the Olympic Games, a lot of landmark work was done with beautiful projection mapping,” says Tan Peng Han, Design Director at KL Pavilion Design Studio. “We came across Panasonic due to its expertise and cutting-edge
After analyzing the dome dimensions and ambient lighting conditions, four 30,000 lm1 PT-RZ34Ks were selected. As well as being small and light enough for the confined installation space, PT-RZ34K’s color performance was convincing. “We chose Panasonic because of its 3DLP technology that projects colors evenly on the dome. Colors play a big role in this project. We need to be very particular about the colors to make one seamless content to present the perfect immersive projection.” The experience was awarded “first projection mapping on a shopping mall dome” by the Malaysian Book of Records.
