Panasonic LED blendsinto the lovely natural landscape, and contributes to environmental preservation

A row of chochin lanterns forms a glowing chain of light.

In June 2009, Panasonic replaced a total of 1,056 light bulbs with LED on the Itsukushima Shrine grounds, walkways, and elsewhere on the island of Miyajima in Hiroshima Prefecture.

Panasonic is contributing to the preservation of 1,400-year history and scenic beauty for future generations

Panasonic LED illuminates the 1,400-year history of Itsukushima Shrine, where even powerful samurai leaders bowed their heads in prayer.

In recent years Itsukushima Shrine has suffered from environment-related problems such as flooding of its walkways and deforestation. Replacement of light bulbs with LEDs, which cause much fewer CO2 emissions, is an initiative that contributes to natural conservation. We hope to inspire visitors to switch to LED as well.
