Soft light that blends with the magnificent colors of stained glass.

Panasonic’s nostalgic LED lighting looks rightat home in the ancient Prague Castle

Prague Castle is an emblem of Prague, the City of One Hundred Towers, and was home to its kings in centuries past.

In June 2013, Panasonic replaced the approximately 10,000 light bulbs in Prague Castle with LED.

Previously, traditional incandescent bulbs were thought to be the optimum lighting for the solemn ambience of Prague Castle, a symbol of Czech history.

With this in mind Panasonic worked toward, and succeeded in achieving, the warmth of incandescent lighting using LED.

Replacing its 10,000 light bulbs with LED resolves both cost and environmental issues

Stained glass by Alphonse Mucha is a classic work of Art Nouveau. The soft light harmonizes with the myriad colors of the glass.

In Europe, new LED bulbs known as Nostalgic Clear have a warmer color temperature than LEDs used in Japan. Their light is warmer and softer than that of incandescent or fluorescent bulbs.

LED light bulbs offer the same brightness as incandescent with lower power consumption and much less need for maintenance. In the past, changing the light bulbs in the castle’s high ceiling required a large crane and was a dangerous task.

Needing to be replaced much less often, the new LEDs contribute to improved safety as well as reduced cost.
