Suita City Football Stadium

Suita City Football Stadium is a football stadium in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture. It was built as the home stadium for Gamba Osaka, a team in Japan’s professional football league (J-League). The stadium excels in both immediacy and comfort – the pitch and the stands are close, and all seats in the stands are under a roof. The stadium achieves eco-friendliness through LED lighting and solar power, as well as playing the role of a temporary evacuation shelter and disaster response headquarters in the event of an emergency.
Suita City Football Stadium is a football-only stadium that brings spectators into the action.
Panasonic aimed for an environment that supported gameplay from both the hardware and software perspectives, with light distribution design using glare-reducing LED light sources, and spatial lighting design that evenly illuminates the field with high lighting intensity.
We also achieved facility solutions that take the environment and safety into account, including a solar power generator system and an evacuation guidance system.

Glare reduction in the LED light source hardware.
Narrow-angle light distribution is created at the source by Panasonic’s original light distribution design.
Not only glare across the field, but also glare from looking up at light sources is reduced by minimizing overlapping beams that causes glare.
Units are designed to yield the maximum benefit of LED lighting by reducing running costs via energy-savings, long service-life and quick lighting recovery.

Software for lighting the field brightly and uniformly
A lighting environment that facilitates play is created by controlling the locations, quantity and angles of more than 380 fixtures to light the entire field evenly at high illuminance of 1500 lx.

Photovoltaic power generation system
Solar power generation installed on the roof for a greener stadium reducing energy costs.

High output solar module.
2100 modules of high output solar cells (504kW) are installed in the stadium.

Sustainable energy production and consumption conditions for everyone to see.
The amount of power generated and consumed is displayed on stadium monitors for spectators to see. The visible environmental infrastructure makes the public aware of the environmental and disaster preparedness.
Advanced Proposal : Lithium-ion power storage system interconnected to photovoltaic power generation.

Panasonic has an extensive track record with lithium-ion power storage systems for public/industrial applications.
As a multi-solutions provider Panasonic can can also offer solutions enhancing the stadium’s role as a disaster prevention base, such as to tactfully connect the photovoltaic systems with lithium ion battery storage systems, in order to stably supply power to specific equipment even in the event of a power outage.
Evacuation guidance system
In order to evacuate tens of thousands of spectators safely if a disaster occurs unexpectedly

Evacuation guidance on large stadium screens.
Large-size screen
Fire locations and evacuation routes are displayed on a large screen.

Flashing guide lamps.
LED guide lamps
If a fire breaks out, guide lamps in various locations of the stadium flash brightly.

All evacuation systems are linked to the Emergency Management Center.
Automatic fire alarm equipment, emergency broadcasting equipment and central monitoring equipment
Systems helpful towards the early discover of a fire which can be done by the single press of a button.
Advanced Proposal : Let’s Make the Experience of Watching a Game More Exciting.
A variety of content can be distributed to locations outside the field of play from an integrated production system.

Stadium signage
- High-quality live images (4K or full HD) are distributed with a small time lag.
- CG and ad content are displayed intermittently during the game to ensure an enjoyable experience.
- Restaurant menus are digitalized and interconnected with POS systems.
- An HTML browser is installed to display stats and SNS.
Excitement of watching in the stadium also in spectator’s hand.

Wi-Fi live images for fans
- Camera images captured from multiple angles are delivered inreal-time. Missed scenes can be played back.
- Spectator enjoy a more rewarding stadium experience.Video content is interlocked with large stadium screens and signage.
- Revenues can be increased via ad spots on screens, monitors andsmartphones. The number of views is reported back to advertises.
- Can be integrated with existing fan applications or embeddedas a function of applications.
