M-3-2 : Materials concerning PHP Institute

Immediately after the end of World War II (1939-1945), the social order of Japan was in utter chaos. In 1946, Matsushita Konosuke, the founder of Matsushita Electric Industrial Company, inaugurated the PHP Institute, believing that the enrichmant of life – both spiritual and material – could restore peace and happiness to the shattered nation. PHP, meaning Peace and Happiness through Prosperity, became the name of a magazine issued by the Institute in 1947.

In 1970, PHP was published for the first lime in English; the Institute also publishes books, from time to time, both in Japanese and English.
The Human Manifesto is a declaration of his view of humanity by Matsushita Konosuke. It expresses his conviction that man must harmonizc his intellect if he is to realise prosperily in mind and body. This is man's destiny.
